At the end of “Thor: The Dark World,” Loki achieved his greatest desire: rule over Asgard (albeit disguised as his father Odin). However, there’s been little talk about his role in “Thor: Ragnarok,” and actor Tom Hiddleston said he hasn’t heard anything about returning for the film as recently as October. So what’s the deal?
“At the moment, everyone’s trying to figure it out, like, ‘What’s [Loki] going to do?'” director Taika Waititi told WIRED, suggesting he wants to bring Hiddleston back even though he’s not quite sure how to do it yet. “Everyone loves that character.”
Waititi also confirmed Cate Blanchett is still in talks for the film. When asked directly about her involvement, he said, “Yes” after a long pause. “Look, it’s so early I’m not sure exactly what the extent of it is, but it’s looking good… which would make me very happy.”
As to the rumor about Blanchett playing Hela, he added, “Yeah, the rumor… Here’s the thing… I can’t say anything. I’ve probably said way too much.”
Directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth, “Thor: Ragnarok” is scheduled to open on November 3, 2017.
