Thor: Ragnarok Cut a Callback Scene To Avengers' Hulk/Thor Moment

Hulk Punches Thor

Thor: Ragnarok had plenty of homages and callbacks to previous installments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it almost featured a reference to an iconic Hulk smash.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, director Taika Waititi revealed plenty of tidbits from the Thor sequel -- one of them being a scene that mirrored a fan-favorite moment from The Avengers.

"They all land on the bridge -- Thor, Loki and then Hulk. They stand for a second. Then Hulk just smashes Loki, punches him out of the frame -- just like in Avengers, when Hulk did it to Thor," Waititi said. "It was a crowd favourite, but we just had to get rid of it for time. It might be on the DVD.”

Waititi's assumption that the scene may make it into the home release of the movie begs the question whether there will be a director's cut or extended version of the film. There's a better chance it will be tagged as a bonus feature, but anything is possible.

In theaters now, Thor: Ragnarok is a production of Marvel Studios directed by Taika Waititi starring Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
