The latest episode of What If...? introduced the show's first distinct variant of Thor. This incarnation of the God of Thunder, who didn't grow up as the heroic contrast to his bad seed stepbrother Loki, is functionally a frat boy with the powers of a god.
Thor causes an intergalactic incident when he throws his latest rager on Earth, the only planet that escapes Heimdall's supervision. Despite the havoc he wreaks, this Thor variant is still charming. That's evident in the nicknames he picks up during his time on Earth.
Party Prince, the Nickname Thor Gives Himself
Self-imposed nicknames are usually a party foul. However, Thor's "Party Prince" is too accurate to hold against him. He more than earns it over the course of the episode. It also quickly undercuts his unintentionally ominous intro, serving as a bro-like way of telling the citizens of Earth that he comes in peace.

When Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis track Thor's energy signature to Las Vegas, they're surprised by how benign Asgard's alien invasion is compared to what they've come to expect, thanks to blockbuster movies. Jane is even more shocked that the first alien to arrive on Earth is a handsome prince. When Jane briefly pauses before describing what she expected, Darcy tosses out three perfect descriptions of what he actually looks like: Hotty McScottie, Beach-Body Ken and Old-School Abercrombie Catalog. She has more she wants to share, but Jane chooses to make contact with Thor instead of hearing them. So Darcy passes the time with Howard the Duck instead.
Horse God, When Thor Mishears 'Norse Gods'
Jane is incredulous when Thor introduces himself, recognizing him as a mythical character. When she asks if he's the Norse God of Thunder, Thor misunderstands her and replies that he doesn't know anything about "Horse Gods." Anyone who has ever tried to carry on a conversation at a raucous party can take this as a pretty spot-on joke. It could also be a reference to Thor's equine ally, Beta Ray Bill. Bill won't appear in What If...? because he hasn't been introduced in the movies yet, although that's not for lack of trying.
Spicoli, Nick Fury's Reference to Fast Times at Ridgemont High
During his brief cameo, S.H.I.EL.D. Director Nick Fury reads Thor the riot act in an attempt to get him to leave Earth. Fury begins his diatribe by calling Thor Spicoli, a reference to Sean Penn's iconic stoner character from the '80s classic Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It's an apt comparison, as Thor and Spicoli are both genuinely good-natured but incredibly oblivious.
A Friendly Loki Calls Thor 'My Brother From Another Mother'
Thor and Loki feign hostility when the Frost Giants arrive in Paris, but it's quickly revealed that they're close friends. Loki professes that Thor's his brother from another mother. Because he's still Loki, he uses that distinction to avoid helping Thor avoid the fearsome Frigga's wrath.
Captain Marvel Mockingly Call Thor 'Whitesnake' (It's the Hair)
When Captain Marvel arrives to confront Thor, she follows Fury's lead and uses a pop culture reference to call him out. While enthusiastic anime fans might think it's a Jojo reference, it's more likely a reference to the band the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure character is named after. Glam metal band Whitesnake had two huge hits in the '80s, "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again." As dated as that reference is, it makes sense for Carol, as she has been in space since the '90s. It's also accurate considering Thor would fit in with the band's aesthetic -- and rock star lifestyle -- quite easily.
