Thor: Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi is all in for Valkyrie being queer, though only if actor Tessa Thompson were in favor of it.

"I think so," Waititi told Variety when asked if he'd like for Valkyrie to be "explicitly queer" in Love and Thunder. "The IP is not mine. But with the actors, I feel whatever makes them comfortable — whether they feel like there’s a natural choice, or a natural way for that character to go — then I’m pretty supportive. If Tessa wanted to do that, I’m in."

Thompson has hinted at Valkyrie's sexuality in the past, saying the character "needs to find her new queen," and she and Brie Larson have even said they'd be interested in a Valkyrie/Captain Marvel pairing.

While it's never been shown on-screen, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed Valkyrie is the first LGBTQ superhero to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, that number will soon increase, as Eternals will introduce the MCU's first gay couple.
