Thor: Love and Thunder has snagged a great co-writer, as Someone Great writer and director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has joined the writing staff for the forthcoming film.
The news comes courtesy of Variety, with the outlet reporting that Robinson will work on the script alongside director Taika Waititi. Production on Thor: Love and Thunder is expected to begin later this year. Robinson made her film debut with 2019's Someone Great for Netflix. The film, which she also penned, starred Gina Rodriguez. She also created Sweet/Vicious for MTV, a series that has spawned a bit of a cult following since its unfortunate cancellation in 2017.
Officially announced at Comic Con International last July, Thor: Love and Thunder will mark the first time a hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will star in a fourth solo film. While little is currently known regarding the project, we do know that it'll see the return of Natalie Portman's Jane Foster, with fan-favorite Valkyrie -- played by Tessa Thompson -- set to take over duties as King of Asgard. Recent reports have indicated actor Christian Bale is in talks to tackle a villainous role in the project, with speculation indicating he may be the film's main villain -- which is simply described as "otherworldly."
Filming is expected to kick off around August of this year.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. The film arrives in theaters Nov. 5, 2021.
