Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson already knows who would join Valkyrie on the battlefield in a potential movie or television series based on the character.

"I really miss Mark Ruffalo and I really miss Banner and Hulk so I think he would be my number one pick," Thompson said in an interview with CinePOP. "And then, really anyone from Wakanda. I would love to be able to fight alongside any of the incredible Wakandans particularly all the incredible female warriors [the Dora Milaje]. I think Valkyrie would really relate to them."

Thompson also said that she'd have to include Tooth Gnasher and Tooth Grinder, the two screaming goats from Love and Thunder who draw Thor's golden chariot through space. "They would have to be with me," she said. "Of course, Miek would have to be with me. I think the Wakandans are the only great fighters in this bunch, but I think we would do okay. I think we'd be okay."

Make Way For King Valkyrie

Thompson first appeared as Valkyrie in 2017's Thor: Ragnorok, which she starred in alongside Chris Hemsworth's Thor and Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk. She would reprise the role in Avengers: Endgame in 2019, where Valkyrie would take over as the king of New Asgard from Thor. Whether or not Marvel Studios has planned a solo project for Thompson's character is unknown, but Love and Thunder director Taika Waititi has stated that he'd love to see a spinoff project for both Valkyrie and his character, Korg.

Love and Thunder will pick up after the events of Avengers: Endgame. According to the official synopsis, Love and Thunder will see Thor, joined by the Guardians of the Galaxy, Jane Foster's the Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman) and King Valkyrie (Thompson), go up against the villainous Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. According to Waititi, Bale's Gorr is one of the best villains the MCU has seen yet. Love and Thunder will also see Valkyrie adjusting to her new diplomatic role as the King of New Asgard, which is a stark contrast to her usual role as a warrior.

"She's got to do all the things that they never tell you about when you're supposed to rule the people, which is deal with all of the infrastructure and figure out the economy and have delegates visit from other countries," director and co-writer Waititi said in a recent interview. "So, she's spending a lot of her time not fighting, and all of her new battles have to do with ruling her people."

Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters on July 8.
