The reported runtime of Thor: Love and Thunder suggests the film will be one of the Marvel Cinematic Univers's shorter adventures.

According to Australian cinema chain Event Cinema, Thor's upcoming blockbuster clocks in at 115 minutes, or 1 hour and 55 minutes. Neither Disney nor Marvel Studios have addressed the legitimacy of the time but if it's correct, Love and Thunder will be one of the shortest movies in the entire MCU. The only movies in the sprawling superhero universe that sport a shorter runtime are The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World, both of which clock in at 112 minutes. There are a couple of MCU movies that match Love and Thunder's reported runtime, namely the first Thor and Doctor Strange.

While the legitimacy of the runtime is still in question, it's worth noting that the movie could still be undergoing editing and the version released in cinemas may be either longer or shorter. This was the case with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which was rumored to have a significantly longer runtime than the final 2 hours and 6 minutes. Director Sam Raimi hinted that the original theatrical cut was over 40 minutes longer than the final, released version.

Thor: Love and Thunder will see the titular god of thunder, once again played by Chris Hemsworth, embark upon a journey of self-discovery. As he's grown disillusioned with "superheroing" after the climactic events of Avengers: Endgame, Thor sets out to find out who he really is. The beloved character will be joined by a host of familiar faces, including several members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as Korg, King Valkyrie and Jane Foster, who wields the might of the reforged Mjolnir.

Speaking about the intention behind Thor: Love and Thunder, director Taikia Waititi explained that he envisioned the film as a tumultuous time for the titular hero. "It's sort of like a midlife crisis film, really," Waititi said. "That's the question we ask everyone: Are we doing the right thing, and are we doing all we can in the world? I think right now, while the world is still healing from this pandemic, it's a good question to ask. It's like, well, are we doing enough to look after each other and to look after ourselves?"

Thor: Love and Thunder crashes into theaters on July 8.
