The fourth entry in the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder has started shooting in Australia. Thanks to several social media posts, we know the Guardians of the Galaxy actors are in town to film the movie, and already set photos have surfaced showing Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pratt on the set of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe outing. On top of reuniting Thor and Star-Lord, these pictures also show the new costumes the characters will be wearing in Love and Thunder. Peter Quill's costume appears to be an upgraded, armored version of his classic look, but Thor's is wholly different.

If anything, these set photos may have just given us our first glimpse at Thor's outfit as part of the Asgardians of the Galaxy.

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor gave the throne of New Asgard to Valkyrie and set off with the Guardians of the Galaxy to forge a new path in the universe. As he and Peter Quill clashed over leadership, Thor even gave the team a new name: the Asgardians of the Galaxy. While the name was meant as a joke, it was also a play on the 2018 comic-book series of the same name, which assembled several Asgardians to form a new cosmic team of superheroes.

With Thor now an unofficial/official part of the Guardians, the name sort of applies in the MCU, and it looks like the God of Thunder's new outfit in the upcoming film will reflect his status as a member of the team. Indeed, the set pictures show Thor wearing blue pants, black and yellow boots and a sleeveless, red leather coat. It gives the character a grungy, rock n' roll look, and it makes him fit right alongside Star-Lord -- and that may be no accident.

In the MCU, Star-Lord's costume is red, a symbol of his allegiance to the Ravagers. The rest of the Guardians also sported this same color when fighting Ronan at the end of the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. Therefore, Thor's red vest might be his way of fitting in with the team. The mix of blue and red is colorful, and it ensures he coordinates better with the Guardians.

Moreover, it would make sense for the character to get a new costume as he sets off across the cosmos with his new friends. After all, when he left, the God of Thunder only had his "Bro Thor" clothes. But when it's time for the team to spring into action, Thor will need a new look -- and what's better than a outfit that aesthetically meshes with the rest of the Guardians?

Whether Thor or Star-Lord is the leader of the team, it sure looks like Thor's new look means he's now an Asgardian of the Galaxy.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
