Thor: Love and Thunder is heavy on the jokes, to either the delight or dismay of MCU fans worldwide, but it's also heavy with plot holes. The film introduced many powerful new beings and even weapons that can kill gods, forcing viewers to work hard to keep up.

Of course, problems are sure to arise as Marvel delves more into multiverses and time travel, but the latest films have may have created more questions than usual. By adding entities like Eternity and Valhalla to the MCU's mix, Thor: Love and Thunder presents the most questions yet and no timetable for answers.

Warning: Spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder below.

10 What Are The Rules For Entering Valhalla?

Thor Odinson and Jane Foster in Love and Thunder

According to Thor, an Asgardian needs to die in battle to reach Valhalla, the best of the afterlifes in Norse mythology. However, in an emotional end credits scene, the very human Jane Foster enters Valhalla after dying in the fight with Gorr. It's possible that her connection with Mjolnir broke the rules regarding who can and who cannot enter Valhalla but that doesn't help explain what happened to other Asgardians like Odin and Loki.

When Odin died in Thor: Ragnarok, he also turned into magical golden dust and faded away, but he did not die in battle. Thor's half-brother Loki also died multiple times throughout the MCU films, but even when he died in conflict with Thanos, he never entered Valhalla. Technically, Loki is the son of a frost giant, so not being an official Asgardian may have prevented him from making it through. That said, adding an exclusive afterlife for Asgardians, then immediately letting humans in, certainly complicated the MCU.

9 Why Wasn't Eternity Utilized in Infinity War Or Endgame?

Thanos In Avengers Infinity War

Eternity opened a massive can of worms in the MCU. Since Eternity can grant wishes, this made fans wonder why no one ever thought to seek him out during the previous universal crisis. Doctor Strange allegedly viewed 14 million futures in Avengers: Infinity War, and decided that the time travel used in Endgame was the only way to defeat Thanos. It seems like asking Eternity to reverse Thanos' Snap would have also worked.

It's also hard to believe that Thanos spent all that time scouring the universe for Infinity Stones when he could have just asked for Eternity's help. Eternity might have even let the Eternals wish away the Celestials threatening to destroy Earth.

8 Is Eternity Gone Forever?

Eternity and Singularity in Marvel Comics

According to the film, Eternity grants the wish of anyone who finds him first, so is he gone forever now? Gorr reached Eternity first in Love and Thunder, so anyone who followed should be second best. Are Eternity's wish-granting powers now gone?

It's also unclear if Eternity has vanished, or if he lives within Love, Gorr's resurrected daughter. When Eternity grants Gorr's wish to bring her back to life, a reverse shot of Love shows her imbued with Eternity's cosmic energy. However, it's hard to tell if she carries any of his powers at the end of the film. Also, is there an Eternity in every iteration of the multiverse, or just the MCU's universe? How many times could this Dragon Ball scenario play out?

7 Is Thor An Alien Or A God?

Thor with Stormbreaker in the first fight of Thor: Love and Thunder.

In the first Thor movie, Odin it makes clear to Loki that Asgardians are viewed as gods because of their power, but that they are beings who live, age, and die. This turned Thor's existence, and Asgardians at large, into something more like an extra-dimensional alien's than a Norse god's. In Thor: Love and Thunder, however, beings like Zeus and the Council of Gods are directly referred to as "gods," not aliens like Gorr.

Adding Norse mythological elements like Valhalla and Thor's turn into the definitive God of Thunder also complicated the vague power structures in place between gods, aliens, titans, and Celestials within the MCU. If Odin and Zeus both exist even outside their mythical places in different cultures, then were they created as gods? Or are they all just different sides of a multidimensional coin?

6 How Does Korg's Family Work?

A jovial Korg from Thor: Love and Thunder.

Korg's family tree may have less impact on the state of the MCU than Eternity, but his lineage is still confusing. In Thor: Love and Thunder, Korg states that he was conceived by his two dads, but back in Thor: Ragnarok, he also mentioned his mom.

Korg having two dads is closer to his comics counterpart's canon, so it makes sense that his latest appearance would match up. That doesn't change the fact that, in Ragnarok, he told Thor that his revolution on Sakaar failed when only his mom and her boyfriend showed up. Did director Taika Waititi, who voices Korg, just forget how his character was introduced?

5 Thor Can Share His Powers With Others?

Thor Odinson, Captain America, And Iron Man In Avengers Endgame

At the end of the film, Thor turns the captured kids into a child army by sharing his lightning powers with them. This is an essential part of the fight against Gorr's shadow creatures, but it's evidently the first time the God of Thunder ever pulled this trick off.

Empowering his fellow Avengers would have made a huge difference, both the Battle of New York and in the fight against Thanos. It's possible that this new ability was only awakened in this latest film somehow. Even after he shares his lightning, no one delves into Thor's newfound ability to bestow his godhead on others.

4 What Is The Shadow Realm?

Gorr the God Butcher in the Shadow Realm Thor Love and Thunder

Tracking Gorr, Thor and his friends travel to a place called "the Shadow Realm," a plane shrouded in infinite darkness, converting the brightly colored film to black and white. In the comics, Gorr transforms a barren wasteland into a place where his shadow manifestations can thrive, but the MCU's "Shadow Realm" seems like it existed before Gorr found the Necrosword.

Was anything happening in the Shadow Realm before Gorr brought the kidnapped children there? It seems like a very potent place, and yet, no MCU villain has attempted to access its power before.

3 Do You Have To Be Asgardian To Summon The Bifrost?

Thor and the Bifrost Bridge in the MCU

The only characters with the ability to summon the Bifrost in the MCU were Heimdall and his newly introduced son Axl, but throughout the film, Thor is able to use Stormbreaker to travel around the cosmos as well. Who exactly has the power to use the special space bridge and when did Heimdall have a son?

Needing to use the Bifrost to reach Eternity also poses a lot of questions. If the Asgardians were the only gods with the power to reach Eternity, that means they must have kept it secret from everyone in the universe or simply not have known that Eternity existed.

2 Why Didn't Thor Ask His Friends For Help?

Thor in Thor Love and Thunder

With each new outing in the MCU, it gets harder for fans to accept epic solo adventures. There are so many powerful heroes throughout the cosmos now, including Captain Marvel, Hulk, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Doctor Strange, and yet Thor turns to Zeus for help instead of his friends.

After Thor learns about Sif's apparent death at Gorr's hands, the Guardians of the Galaxy don't even offer their help. Instead, Star-Lord immediately decides to split up and tells Thor that he needs to "find himself" to be at peace, leaving him to find Sif on his own. Maybe he just never liked Thor?

1 Was The Necrosword Powerful Or Not?

Gorr the God Butcher pulls out the Necrosword in the MCU

When Gorr arrives at the desert oasis of his god, Rapu, the deity tells him that he just killed the wielder of the Necrosword, a powerful weapon with the power to kill gods. Gorr then picks up the sword and slays Rapu, even though the Necrosword's previous user didn't stand a chance against the god.

Later, when Thor visits Zeus, he tells him that Gorr had only killed a few weaker gods. Reaching Eternity was easier than killing the gods one by one with the Necrosword, especially since it looks like magically wishing for Thor's death may be the only way to actually kill him for good. Did Gorr need this weapon at all?
