According to Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder will be even more off-the-wall than 2017's Thor: Ragnarok.

"It makes Ragnarok feel like a really run-of-the-mill, really safe film," Waititi said while discussing the film with Tessa Thompson, who portrays the Asgardian warrior Valkyrie. "This new movie feels like we asked a bunch of 10-year-olds what they wanted to see and then just said yes to every single thing."

Waititi also confirmed that "space sharks" will be included in the story and said that things are "up in the air" concerning fan-favorite Beta Ray Bill, who has served as one of Thor's closest allies in the comics.

The space sharks comment, in particular, is further proof that Waititi will be drawing heavily from writer Jason Aaron's Thor run, which introduced Jane Foster as the new God of Thunder. Considering Aaron spent the better part of a decade writing Thor, it makes sense that Waititi would look to his work for ideas.
