Thor: Love and Thunder is almost here, with essentially all of the cast already known. At least, that's what fans assumed until recent information came out about actor Lena Headey. The popular Game of Thrones star is currently embroiled in a lawsuit involving films that she was meant to be in, with the latest Thor movie being one of them. Her cut role wasn't specified, but many believe she may have been one of Thor's most magical enemies.

Amora the Enchantress is a longtime villain in Thor's Rogues' Gallery, but she's yet to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are a few reasons why this hasn't happened yet, but Headey would definitely be a great choice for when she does show up. Here's a look at why this Asgardian villainess hasn't been used in the movies, as well as why Headey playing her would be excellent casting.

Why Hasn't the MCU Used Amora the Enchantress?

Amora the Enchantress and Skurge the Executioner from Marvel Comics

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Enchantress is one of Thor's oldest and most prominent villains. Despite this, she hasn't appeared in the MCU for a few possible reasons. For one, her magical powers might make her too much of a retread of Loki and arguably even Hela. In the comics, her lack of physical threat is balanced out by her usually working alongside Skurge, the Executioner. Skurge was already introduced and killed off in Thor: Ragnarok, making it even harder to implement Amora the Enchantress into the films. Speaking of redundant, there's also the fact that there's a magical villainess named Enchantress in the DC Extended Universe, potentially making Thor's version seem like a Jane-Foster-come-lately.

While Amora herself hasn't shown up in the MCU, her sister Lorelei has. The Asgardian seductress debuted in the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., where she had a rivalry with Lady Sif. Likewise, Sylvie from the TV show Loki was loosely based on the second version of Enchantress, Sylvie Lushton. It's actually quite disappointing that Amora's not in Love and Thunder since the title could justify a love triangle between her, Jane and Thor. The biggest missed opportunity, however, is who could've played her, as the actor is actually perfect for the role.

Lena Headey Is the Perfect Actor to Play Enchantress

game of thrones Cersei joffrey

Whether or not Enchantress was going to be played by Lena Headey at some point in Love and Thunder, the actor would do a great job portraying her. Her character of Cersei Lannister on HBO's Game of Thrones was very similar. Cunning, power-hungry and seeking somewhat forbidden love, Cersei was in many ways simply a less magical version of Amora. Sure, it's arguably typecasting, but Headey's experience in such a role would ensure that Amora would be more than just a cackling witch or a vengeful spurned lover.

Thor is in desperate need of such quality foes on the big screen, as the only one worth remembering was his brother, Loki. Likewise, his relationship with Amora the Enchantress would only enhance his relationships with both Sif and Jane, making any tragedy concerning Jane's mortality even sadder. Sadly, fans may never see Amora cast a spell on Thor in the MCU, regardless of whether Headey plays her or not.

To see Thor fight against the much less romantic Gorr, Thor: Love and Thunder premieres in theaters on July 8th.
