Thor: Love and Thunder's first trailer featured a new look at the God of Thunder, who, when last seen, was at his lowest point. After Avengers: Endgame, Thor decided that he couldn't be a King, but he could still explore and help around the galaxy. But now, he's taken his soul-searching to a new level as he's now centered himself and decided to no longer be a hero. However, one particular scene showcased a fresh look at Thor that may have created a continuity error that stemmed from Avengers: Infinity War.

The trailer started with Thor meditating on a cliff and opening his eyes, ready to take on anything. However, when his eyes opened, it was easy to see that both of his pupils were blue, which contradicted the fact that he had a prosthetic eye that was a different color. The change naturally created some friction, as Thor's new eye served as a visual representation of the journey he went through and all he had lost and gained in the past few years.

In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor lost his eye in a final battle against Hela, and it was a personal loss in Thor's life after already losing his parents and home. However, in Avengers: Infinity War, he obtained a new prosthetic eye from Rocket Raccoon, who stole and hid the eye in a rather unsavory place. But by regaining something he lost, Thor established a new connection with the Guardians of the Galaxy, and he carried it with him from that point on. However, like Thor, the eye's story was full of battles and difficult moments, albeit in a much shorter amount of time, and because of that, it could be that the color change may not be an accident.

Minor changes to characters have become commonplace in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, helping keep heroes fresh for old and new fans alike. And since Thor's been through more than most, there are likely some things he wants to forget, such as failing to stop Thanos. As a result, he may have replaced his eye with one that better matched his other pupil. Now, not only would Thor have matching eyes, but he would also be able to close a previous chapter in his life, which may be what is happening in the scene where he's meditating.

There's also the possibility that the change hadn't made it to post-production yet and will get added in for the theatrical release. If so, Thor would make an equally powerful statement by telling audiences that, while he's changed, he won't ever forget the things he went through. And considering Thor is one of the few Asgardians left, his body would now tell a story, and his eye would represent one of the most painful and prideful moments in his life.

Thor's change in eye color could carry an immense amount of weight or be nothing more than a behind-the-scenes mistake that still needs resolving. Nevertheless, noticing a brief moment and mentioning a continuity change shows how many fans care for the franchise. Thor has reached a height in his popularity that could still rise even higher, and whether his change in eye color is permanent or temporary, there's no doubt the impact on the trajectory of his latest arc is still intact.

To see Thor's ocular adjustment, Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters July 8.
