When Thor relaunches under Marvel's "Fresh Start" initiative, the Odinson will once again claim his title as the God of Thunder. With this new start marks the return of an old foe, when the goddess of death Hela reappears to torment our hero in July's Thor #3 from writer Jason Aaron and artist Mike Del Mundo.

The solicitation for the issue teases a wedding that could very well rival the upcoming nuptials of X-Men Gold's Colossus and Kitty Pryde, a union Marvel is billing as the "Wedding of the Century." The question is, who will be revealed as Hela's lucky groom -- the titular hero, or his brother Balder? Well, we're wagering the answer is neither, as we're think the groom's true identity will pick up on a plot thread from Aaron and Olivier Coipel's Unworthy Thor miniseries.

Kiss Of Death

The Mad Titan Thanos was one of several characters vying to lift the Ultimate Universe’s Mjolnir in Unworthy Thor. When his servants Proxima Midnight, Black Swan and a mysterious hooded woman failed to heft the weapon, the woman turned on her teammates. She was revealed to be Hela, who, in exchange for his help in reclaiming her kingdom of Niffleheim, offered Thanos the one thing he desires more than all else: Death. The two A-list villains would eventually seal their devilish deal with a kiss.

There have been no references to this unholy union since the kiss took place, nor has the moment played into any other Marvel series's plot lines. It's been quite the opposite, in fact, as the Thanos series that just concluded featured current-day Thanos and future King Thanos fighting for the hand of Lady Death, not Hela.

If there's going to be a special surprise guest crashing Hela's wedding in Thor #3, all signs point to the Mad Titan being the culprit. Along with their aforementioned liplock, Aaron wrote the previous Unworthy Thor and upcoming Thor, so it stands to reason he'd eventually follow up on a storyline he planted himself. Once Thanos and Hela present themselves as a united front, Thor will need more than Balder to stand up to their evil forces.
