WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Fortnite x Marvel: Nexus War - Thor #1, by Donny Cates, Greg Land, Jay Leisten, Frank D'Armata, Richard Starkings and Tyler Smith, on sale now.

The massive battle royale game Fortnite has kicked off its Season 4, and the game is officially bringing some more of Marvel's biggest heroes into the world of the immensely popular game. While Marvel heroes like Deadpool and Cable have already appeared in the game as guest characters, this new crossover sees the modern Marvel Universe crossover with Fortnite as part of core Marvel continuity.

The new Season 4 Battle Pass includes Thor, Iron Man, Wolverine, She-Hulk, Doctor Doom, Mystique, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, and Storm into the game as playable characters, and the storyline will also bring Galactus and possibly the Black Winter into the game's world.

Marvel's new prequel comic book, Fortnite x Marvel: Nexus War - Thor was also shown partially for gamers playing Fortnite as they watched Season 3 come to an end in the game itself. This new event started with Thor in Asgard, sitting on his throne, as its new King. That is when Galactus showed up and warned Thor that the Black Winter was coming.

As seen in the early moments of Donny Cates and Nic Klein's ongoing Thor series, the Devourer of Worlds needed to consume five unique planets to stop the oncoming Black Winter, and Thor agreed to become the new Herald of Thunder. Thor would help evacuate the planets of all life with the Bifrost, and Galactus would then consume the energy of the world.

The problem is that Galactus was distracted when he discovered a new planet that could give him all the energy he needs. He ignored the original plans and headed for this new world with Thor giving chase. The God of Thunder raced there to warn them before Galactus showed up, and this ended up being the world of Fortnite, The Island.

Thor crashed into the world and tried to warn them of Galactus's arrival. He saw Brite Bomber first and said he was there as a friend to warn them of oncoming danger. He seemed surprised to see Kit, a cat in a mech robot suit, when someone attacked him from behind.

As is normal for someone in Fortnite's world, Raven, Jonesy, Lynx, and Peely stood facing him, ready to battle, and it was clear that Jonsey took the cheap shot at Thor.

As the fight raged on, Thor realized his memories of who he is and what he is doing there were dissipating. As Thor slowly forgot who he was and why he was there, the God of Thunder began to realize something wasn't right as he beat back his enemies. When he looked upward into the skies, he remembered Galactus was coming and planned to consume the world of Fortnite. At that moment, Thor called out to the all-seeing Sif for help, and she promised to send aid.

At that moment, heroes and villains from Earth showed up in the lands of Fortnite, prepared to fight. This group included everyone from the mutants Wolverine and Storm to Avengers members in Iron Man, Captain America, and She-Hulk. Also joining them was Groot and two villains. Mystique and Doctor Doom. That is when Iron Man made the comment that led to the fourth season of Fortnite. He had no idea who anyone around him was, showing that the memory loss Thor started to experience affected the other heroes as well.

The best news for Fortnite players was that these player skins, and many special weapons from the Marvel Universe are part of the Season 4 Battle Pass. There are also changes on the map, including the replacement of Pleasant Park with Doom's Domain, where players can fight Doctor Doom. A Sentinel graveyard can also now be found in the mountains, and there is a Helicarrier floating above the island. Players can also find some Quinjets on the ground with Stark robots protecting them. Finally, Wolverine is the special Battle Pass prize this season, and like Aquaman and Deadpool before, players have to complete missions to unlock everything to get to play with Logan in the game.
