A new promo video for Thor: Love and Thunder, titled "When Love Meets Thunder," gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at director Taika Waititi and actor Chris Hemsworth's adorable friendship.

The video shows the BFFs fake fighting and laughing together. In one clip, Hemsworth reveals his thoughts on Waititi, explaining, "He's like a big kid. He's like sort of a genius child."

This new BTS look comes on the heels of Love and Thunder receiving an official streaming date on Disney+. The film will arrive on the platform on Sept. 8, 2022, in enhanced IMAX. Also included is a documentary about the production of the film titled Assembled: The Making of Thor: Love and Thunder.

What's Next for Taikia Waititi

Love and Thunder has had an impressive run at the box office since its Jul. 8 release date. The film has raked in over $316 million domestically, which is more than its predecessor, the 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok, which made $315 million domestically.

And it seems that Waititi is looking to move this success to other franchises. The director is currently in development on a new Star Wars project -- and he's hoping to move the film to a galaxy even farther away. Waititi explained, "I think for the Star Wars universe to expand, it has to expand," adding that he wants to "create some new characters and just expand the world, otherwise it feels like it's a very small story."

Though not much is known about Waititi's new Star Wars project, he may very well be reuniting with Love and Thunder's Natalie Portman. He recounted the time that he asked her to potentially join the cast, recalling, "Natalie said to me, what do you do next? And I said 'I’m trying to work on a Star Wars thing. Have you ever wanted to be in a Star Wars movie?' She said, 'I’ve been in Star Wars movies.' I forgot about those ones."

But a new Star Wars isn't the only project Waititi has up his sleeve. He is also set to direct a "space opera" based on Alejandro Jodorowsky's graphic novel The Incal, a TV series adaptation of Terry Gilliam's 1981 film Space Bandits, and a film adaptation of Akira.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits Disney+ on Sept. 8.
