Thor: Love and Thunder may not be due out in theaters until later this summer, but already one of the film's stars admitted to being nervous about accidentally spoiling it, as Valkyrie actor Tessa Thompson discussed why she's still excited for the upcoming film despite so little currently being known about it.
Thompson shared why she believes that fewer details known about the film is actually for the better, with the actor carefully explaining her character's role in Love and Thunder so as to not give the hungry fandom too much to pry into. "I’m so nervous now to talk about anything related to those movies because the fandom is so real and I have said I will not be a house for spoilers," Thompson said during an interview with ET Canada. "So I can’t say much, I think everything that we need to know has already been said, which is that she is the king of New Asgard, so she’s navigating her diplomatic duties, she’s reunited with her friend Thor and we’ve got the gang back together."
While no footage has been shared from the film as of writing, Thompson assured fans the work done by returning director Taika Waititi has made Love and Thunder every bit as fun as 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. "[Waititi] has done a brilliant job, and we’ll see," Thompson continued. "I think that the movie was great fun to make, the last time we got together, it was great fun to make, and people seemed to like the film, so if that’s any indication, our level of fun relative to the audience, then I think we’re in good shape."
A first look at Thompson's new Valkyrie costume surfaced online after an image of the actor snapping a photo of the new outfit herself was spotted on social media. Valkyrie's costume now features a striking white-on-black design, with the sleeveless look from Ragnarok apparently being brought back. Waititi seemingly debunked the design after it appeared in an unofficial poster, yet a remarkably similar design still showed up on a leaked t-shirt design for Love and Thunder which depicted the updated version of Thompson's character.
Thompson recently elaborated on what powers audiences can expect Valkyrie to put on display in the film, as the actor shared a little more about her character's strange and powerful skillset. "[Valkyrie] has weird skills, to be honest," Thompson said during an interview earlier this month. "She can sense when someone is close to death, and she takes them into Valhalla, which is essentially the afterlife. She can revive people. But when she revives people, sometimes she ends up in their body. It's a weird thing. It can be quite erotic. And then she has superhuman strength and is essentially God."
