Behind-the-scenes photos from the Thor: Love and Thunder set in Sydney, Australia of actor Tessa Thompson show Valkyrie bringing a modern, Earthly style to her position as the King of New Asgard.The images from the Daily Mail, posted by the Thor: Love and Thunder News account on Twitter, show Thompson as Valkyrie, not in warrior garb or even ceremonial robes from Asgard. Instead, she's in a bespoke three-piece charcoal grey chalk-striped suit with wide, peak lapels.
Befitting royalty, Thompson's hair is styled in a crown of finger wave braids, with a few loose tendrils hanging down. She completes the ensemble with a white business shirt, burgundy necktie and black boots. In the photos, Thompson is astride a white horse that is obscured by film equipment.
Thompson debuted as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok, which ended with Asgard being destroyed and Thor and Valkyrie leading the world's survivors to a new home on Earth. She reprised the role in Avengers: Endgame, which revealed Valkyrie has become the leader of the vagabond Asgardians in the five years following the events of Avengers: Infinity War. In the new film, Valkyrie is in search of a queen to rule New Asgard with her, as Jane Foster takes on the mantle of the Goddess of Thunder, while also dealing with cancer.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
