Before Avengers: Endgame, Natalie Portman's last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe took place in 2013's Thor: The Dark World. However, after Endgame used prerecorded audio and video of Portman's Jane Foster, along with her appearance on the Endgame red carpet, it seemed Portman was back in the MCU's good graces. Then came the bombshell announcement during the Marvel Studios Panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego that Thor 4 would officially be titled Thor: Love and Thunder, with Portman returning to the franchise alongside Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, to follow her comic book counterpart by becoming the new Goddess of Thunder.RELATED: How Can Jane Foster Become the MCU's Mighty Thor Without Mjolnir?Fans quickly dubbed Portman the "Female Thor" on social media, to differentiate her from Hemsworth's God of Thunder. However, director Taika Waititi has officially confirmed Jane Foster's new title for Thor: Love and Thunder -- the Mighty Thor.Replying to a user on Twitter, Waititi corrects them by saying, "Correction. She's called Mighty Thor."

This distinction makes perfect sense in relation to the Marvel comics the MCU movies are inspired by. When Jane Foster picked up Mjolnir to become the Goddess of Thunder, she starred in a Thor and The Mighty Thor series. After no longer being worthy to lift Mjolnir, Thor chose to be referred to as Odinson.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder starring Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, and Chris Hemsworth arrives in theaters November 5, 2021.
