Marvel Studios announced a ton of news at Comic-Con International in San Diego, including a fourth Thor movie: Thor: Love and Thunder. Details about that film revealed Natalie Portman would return, with Jane Foster following her comics counterpart by becoming the Mighty Thor.

Portman shared pictures of the event on Instagram. “So thrilled to share the news with you today at #sdcc2019 that I'll be returning to the @marvel #mcu as female Thor with legends @taikawaititi @tessamaethompson and @chrishemsworth,” the actress wrote, along with a picture of her holding Mjolnir on the Hall H stage. “(Remember this as the before picture for when I get jacked).”

Portman made her debut as Jane Foster in 2011's Thor, and reprised her role for the sequel. However, she didn't appear in Thor: Ragnarok, with Portman having seemingly parted ways with Marvel Studios. In that movie, Thor revealed he and Foster had broken up, explaining her absence from the film. At this time, it's unclear just what she's been doing in the time since her last appearance during Thor: The Dark World and how she'll undergo her transformation, which is caused by Mjolnir in the comics and no longer exists in the present timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
