Loki, the God of Mischief, has lived in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like a cockroach. Every time he was supposedly dead, he would then come back to life in another way while bringing a storm of chaos alongside him. As Thor's adopted brother, Loki was like the evil half who occupied an important role in the God of Thunder's storyline since the very beginning. However, after his final death in Avengers: Infinity War, fans are concerned about Loki's appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder.

The God of Mischief has faked his death so many times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that it seemed unreal. In the first Thor movie, Loki escaped death the first time when Odin adopted him as a baby. His later betrayal caused the Frost Giants' invasion of Asgard and led to Thor's expulsion when the God of Thunder urged a war between the two worlds. Loki then betrayed his birth father Laufey to protect Odin and seemingly died falling into the abyss. After faking his death and taking the Tesseract, Loki led an army to take over Earth and caused the Avengers to unite. Near the end of Thor: The Dark World, Loki again faked his death in his brother's arms.

Despite his awfully high survival rate, Thanos gave Loki the final death sentence in Avengers: Infinity War. It looked like there would be no resurrection this time, but Loki's role in the MCU was far from finished. After the primary Loki died in the main timeline, Tom Hiddleston's iconic Loki continued to live on in an alternative universe.

When the Avengers went back in time and brought everyone back from Thanos' snap, they accidentally created a 2014 Loki variant, who was then captured by the Time Variance Authority in the Disney+ series Loki. The show's first season ended with Sylvie killing Kang the Conqueror and destroying the Sacred Timeline. Hiddleston's Loki ended in a seemingly alternate universe where his friend Mobius didn't recognize him.

This certainly created the possibility for Loki to be in Thor: Love and Thunder's storyline, and at least one form of Loki will be. Matt Damon has confirmed his return as the Asgardian actor playing Loki in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Hiddleston's Loki, on the other hand, will reportedly not appear in the film.

Phase Four has seen the character embracing a completely new path separate from Thor's storyline. With Loki Season 2 confirmed and several cameos for Thor: Love and Thunder, it makes sense that Hiddleston's Loki would not be in the storyline. However, with his critical participation in Thor's MCU history and his continued involvement in Phase Four and future MCU, fans also speculate that Tom Hiddleston's Loki could make a brief appearance in the Thor: Love and Thunder's post-credit scene.

To see if the God of Mischief makes an appearance, Thor: Love and Thunder will be in theaters on July 8.
