Marvel Studios' highly anticipated epic Thor: Love and Thunder is set to soar into theaters on July 8, and the excitement from fans is palpable. Directed by Taika Waititi, the film follows Chris Hemsworth's Thor as he reunites with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) to take down the deadly Gorr the God Butcher (played by The Dark Knight's Christian Bale). Even though many fans will race to cinemas to see the film as early as possible, there are some who wonder when it will be available on streaming.

Though theaters are mostly open and operating as normal, some fans are justifiably still worried about returning to an indoor space. As such, they may feel the safest option is to wait for it to arrive on Disney+. In the past, it was more difficult to predict when a Marvel Cinematic Universe film would hit streaming due to the inconsistent contracts and agreements between Disney and third-party platforms like Netflix. Now that Disney has its own platform, these release windows are slightly more consistent or, at the very least, comparable. With every single Phase Four movie currently available to stream, it's possible to look at their individual release windows to estimate when Thor: Love and Thunder will be available.

While Black Widow initially went straight to streaming as part of Disney+'s premier access program, it only stayed there for 30 days. After its July 9th release date, it didn't come to the streamer permanently until October 6th -- a whopping 89 days afterward. Both Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals arrived slightly sooner, at around 70 days apiece. Surprisingly, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hit streaming after just 42 days.

This is a wide but ultimately declining range of release windows. Thor: Love and Thunder will likely not exceed Black Widow's 89 days, so that rough window could be between August 19th (42 days) and October 5th (89 days). The safest bet would be somewhere around 70 days, which would have it arriving on September 16th. Potentially, it could follow the steadily declining trend and come out before August 19th, making it the shortest release window yet.

At the very least, the film will need to stay in theaters for two to four weeks to approach maximum profit, so don't expect another dramatic reduction in the release period. Even though fans will likely have to wait until the end of summer to watch (or re-watch) Thor: Love and Thunder on Disney+, it's exciting that these films are becoming more readily accessible to the fans who love them.

To catch Thor: Love and Thunder in theaters, the MCU film drops July 8.
