The internet was sent reeling after the release of new photos from the set of Thor: Love and Thunder. However, fans were so focused on Thor's new sleeveless costume that they completely missed the God of Thunder's new comics-accurate boots.
In these new set photos, Thor is rocking a red and black sleeveless leather vest that looks like it may have been taken from Star-Lord's personal closet. Underneath the vest, the God of Thunder also wore blue pants and yellow and black boots, much like the ones featured in the comics.
Thor debuted in Journey into Mystery #83 in August 1962 wearing bright yellow boots. Although he's worn this footwear throughout the comics, the boots have yet to make an appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Thor: Love and Thunder started filming in Australia at the end of January and set photos revealed that multiple characters will make a comeback. The story will borrow many elements from the 2015-2018 Mighty Thor comics where Thor becomes unworthy of Mjolnir and Jane Foster takes over the mantle as God of Thunder. One of Thor's main villains, Gorr the God Butcher, will also appear in Love and Thunder.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
