The trailer delay for Thor: Love and Thunder may be due to new reshoots involving Christian Bale's villain.

According to a report from The Ankler, the recently reported Thor 4 reshoots involve Bale's Gorr the God Butcher. It wasn't stated whether these are new moments being added or existing ones being altered, but the outlet claims the lack of a trailer for the film is connected to the reshoots.

With the movie set to come out in July, fans have been anxious to see a first look at the movie. The release of the Ms. Marvel trailer had Thor 4 trending as fans begged Marvel Studios to drop a teaser, and The Boys Twitter account even beseeched director Taika Waiti to release a look at the upcoming film. So far, however, there's been no indication as to when a trailer will be released, despite the film hitting theaters in a little over three months.

Marvel Studios has always been incredibly secretive with its films, but Love and Thunder is still an unknown quantity. While fans have high hopes after Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok, almost nothing has been revealed about the film's plot. In lieu of a trailer or official images, fans have had to get by with glimpses of merchandise. Thor 4 toys and a poster leak offered the first look at Chris Hemsworth's new costume as well as Natalie Portman's Goddess of Thunder. LEGO sets have meanwhile offered teases about the movie's story.

It was a recent LEGO set that provided a look at Gorr in the film, albeit in minifig form. Outside of that, only some leaked set photos of Bale in his Gorr costume have teased how the actor will appear as the god-killing villain. Those shots, of Bale in white face paint and matching robes, mirror the LEGO figure. And while they certainly reference the character's comic book look, they also don't cut a striking figure, especially considering Waititi's larger-than-life approach to Marvel moviemaking.

CGI augmentation or the reshoots could alter Gorr's final look, but until Marvel releases something official, be it photos, a poster, or the long-awaited trailer, fans will have to continue speculating about what the sequel has in store.
