Thor: Love and Thunder lead Chris Hemsworth and director and co-star Taika Waititi celebrated a wrap on filming with a behind-the-scenes photo.
The photo features a jacked Hemsworth and Waititi donning his Korg motion-capture suit. "That's a wrap on Thor Love and Thunder, it's also national don't flex day so I thought this super relaxed photo was appropriate," Hemsworth wrote on Instagram. "The film is gonna be batshit crazy off the wall funny and might also pull a heart string or two. Lots of love, lots of thunder! Thank you to all the cast and crew who made this another incredible Marvel journey. Buckle in, get ready and see ya in cinemas!!"
The photo is the latest to come out of the Thor:Love and Thunder set, as both Hemsworth and Waititi have been posting periodic updates and glimpses into the set. Waititi shared several photos of him and his daughter, while Hemsworth gave fans a first look at his Thor's new hairdo and his co-star, Matt Damon. Other photographs have come via leaks, including Tessa Thompson's new Valkyrie look, Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher and New Asgard.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be the fourth film in the Thor franchise and Hemsworth's ninth time playing the God of Thunder after portraying him in Thor, The Avengers, Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnorak, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. While plot details are scarce, the film will feature the return of Thompson's Valkyrie and Waititi's Korg. Jaimie Alexander and Natalie Portman also reprise their Thor roles as Lady Sif and Jane Foster, respectively, after sitting out Ragnorak. Guardians of the Galaxy's Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer) and Karen Gillen (Nebula) will also make appearances as their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters. And, as if the film was not crowded enough, Brie Larson's Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel is also rumored to have a role.
The film will also feature some new faces, including Russell Crowe as the Greek god Zeus and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. While Zeus's part in the story is still shrouded in mystery, Bale's Gorr will be the main villain of the movie.
Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillen as Nebula, Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe as Zeus. The film arrives in theaters May 6, 2022.
