It seems the God of Thunder and Eitri are not done working together, as a new rumor points to Peter Dinklage returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Thor: Love and Thunder.

Cosmic Circus noticed an IMDb update on the Thor 4 page which lists a hairstylist for Peter Dinklage. While IMDb listings can be added and edited by anyone, and thus are hardly confirmation of something concrete, it could point to a return to the MCU for the actor and his character from Avengers: Infinity War, Eitri.

Like in the comics and Norse mythology, Eitri is a dwarf and master at forging weapons. In Marvel Comics, he resides in Svartalfheim and originally forged Mjolnir, Thor's enchanted hammer. Infinity War brought a version of Eitri into the MCU as the leader of Nidavellir's dwarves, responsible for creating the Infinity Gauntlet for Thanos. Unlike the dwarves of myth and comics, Eitri is depicted as a giant. And while it's not confirmed that he created Mjolnir in the MCU, he does help to forge Stormbreaker for Thor.

A recent Thor 4 leak of promotional art not only shows off the new costumes Thor and Jane Foster will get in Love and Thunder but also sees the Odinson still wielding Stormbreaker. Jane Foster will meanwhile become the Goddess of Thunder by holding Mjolnir, just like in the comics. The twist, however, is that Mjolnir was destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. But the promo art and this new rumor may explain how Jane ends up with the hammer.

In the art, Jane's hammer is covered in cracks. It's possible that Mjolnir will be reforged, possibly with the help of Eitri. The dwarves and the Asgardians clearly have a long history, so bringing Eitri back to the MCU makes sense, especially with an actor of Dinklage's caliber in the role. And if it also helps explain how Mjolnir is returned to the main MCU timeline, all the better.

Of course, most of the details about Thor 4 are mere speculation at this point. Rumors and leaks, like the reveal of a Love and Thunder poster, have offered plenty of teases about the plot and characters of the film. But outside of speculation, and details from the Thor comics that might be translated to the screen, precious little is known about the upcoming MCU film.

Thor: Love and Thunder arrives July 8 in theaters.
