Thomas Jane Circles L.A. Noir

Thomas Jane has played a killer of mobsters, but if reports are to be believed, he might be playing one of the biggest gangsters of all time in Frank Darabont's upcoming TNT series. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the one-time Punisher who most recently starred in HBO's Hung, is being eyed to portray notorious mobster Bugsy Siegel in L.A. Noir.

The series, based on John Buntin’s book L.A. Noir: The Struggle for the Soul of America’s Most Seductive City, already boasts an impressive cast that includes a trio of actors that appeared on the Darabont-run first season of The Walking Dead: John Bernthal, Jeffrey DeMunn and Andrew Rothenberg. The pilot will also feature Simon Pegg and Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia.

The pilot was shot and wrapped last weekend, but Darabont might be looking to insert a few shots of Jane as Siegel into the pilot for air to add continuity to the whole thing and Jane's later appearances in the series, assuming the pilot gets picked up by TNT, that is. Expect a decision on that to come down the pike in the next few weeks.
