10 Titania First Appeared In Secret Wars

When Titania made her debut, Marvel was undergoing one of its most significant comic events: Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars. Titania made her comic debut in Marvel Superhero Secret Wars #3 by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck. In the story, a woman named Mary MacPherran and her friend, Marsha Rosenberg are endowed with super-human powers.

Adopting the monikers Titania and Volcana, the duo joins forces with other villains gathered by The Beyonder. Titania played an important role throughout the rest of the event and even faced off with heroes like the X-Men and Thor.

9 Dr. Doom Created Titania To Be His Minion

Though Titania's origin is yet to be revealed in the MCU, her origin in Marvel Comics is well established. In the aforementioned Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #3, Titania first appeared inside a test chamber in Dr. Doom's base. Using technology powered by an alien storm, Doom gave Titania and Volcana their powers, declaring them both his minions shortly after.

Powers weren't the only gifts Titania received that day; she noticeably changed from being shy to proud and confident. Though Titania's MCU origin may be completely different from her comics' origin, a possible connection to Dr. Doom, one of Marvel's most important villains, is undeniably interesting for fans of the MCU.

8 Titania Met She-Hulk In Secret Wars

The hero who later became her rival, Titania met She-Hulk for the first time in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #7 by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck. In the story, Titania jumps on She-Hulk and attacks her after noticing how she's defeated most of her allies.

Calling off Absorbing Man and Doc Ock, Titania unleashes her full strength on She-Hulk and whacks her over the head with a giant metal beam. Before She-Hulk can recover, Titania, with the help of her allies from the Wrecking Crew, pins She-Hulk to the ground and brutally attacks her with a myriad of heavy weapons.

7 Titania Joined The Masters Of Evil

At the end of Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, Titania and the rest of the Marvel universe were sent back to Earth. Now a super-powered villain thanks to Dr. Doom, Titania was invited by Baron Zemo to join the Masters of Evil: one of Marvel's most powerful supervillain teams.

Accepting Zemo's invitation, Titania's first assignment was to enlist another powerful villain, Moonstone, into the group, which she successfully did in Avengers #270 by Roger Stern and John Buscema. Titania spent the rest of her time in the Masters of Evil carrying out numerous attacks on different members of the Avengers.

6 Titania Has A Rivalry With Spider-Man

Two characters who've faced off more than a handful of times are Titania and Spider-Man. They have a rivalry dating back to Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 by Jim Shooter and Mike Zeck. Facing off for the first time, Spider-Man handed Titania her first loss since she gained superpowers.

Previously blowing through members of the Avengers with ease, Titania's incredible strength was no match for the speed of Spider-Man. After that fight, Titania developed a fear of Spider-Man that made her nervous whenever she looked at him. Spider-Man and Titania met again for a rematch in Amazing Spider-Man #283 by Tom Defalco and Ron Frenz, which Titania technically won with the help of Absorbing Man.

5 Absorbing Man Has A Romantic History With Titania

Another character Titania met during the events of Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, Absorbing Man is one of the most powerful enemies of the Hulk. After they first met on Battleworld, Titania and Absorbing Man worked together on numerous missions as members of the Masters of the Evil.

After combining forces for years, the duo married in Avengers: Unplugged #4 by Glenn Herdling and John Statema. In the story, the Avengers attack the wedding after assuming it's a supervillain gathering. Realizing the meeting didn't have ill intentions, the Avengers left and allowed Titania and Absorbing Man to finish their ceremony.

4 Titania Joined The New Frightful Four

After breaking out of the Vault – a maximum security prison – Titania joined the Wizard, Klaw, and Hydro-Man to form the new Frightful Four. Taking on The Fantastic Four in Fantastic Four #326 by Steve Englehart and Keith Pollard, the Frightful Four defeated Marvel's First Family with the help of Dragon Man (another Fantastic Four villain).

However, the newly formed team of villains' victory over The Fantastic Four didn't last long, as they were defeated in a rematch three issues later. With her time as a member of the Frightful Four ending as quickly as it began, Titania quit the team and was sent back to the Vault.

3 Titania Was Named After A Marvel Employee

Like many other characters in Marvel Comics, Titania was inspired by an actual person. In fact, Titania is based on a former Marvel office worker named Mary MacPherran, who shares the same name as Titania's true identity.

Jim Shooter, the former Editor-In-Chief of Marvel Comics and creator of Titania, personally asked the real-life Mary MacPherran if he could use her name for a new villain in their upcoming comic event. Since revealing this fun fact about the character, Shooter has explained that MacPherran's contributions to the Marvel offices left a lasting impact on him.

2 Titania Became Skirn: Breaker Of Men

During the Marvel Comics event Fear Itself, the Serpent, who claims to be the true All-Father of Asgard, called seven magic hammers to Earth. In Fear Itself #1 by Matt Fraction and Stuart Immonen, Titania picked up one of the hammers and instantly transformed into Skirn: Breaker of Men.

As a member of the Worthy – elite guards appointed by the Serpent – Titania became incredibly powerful. She took on and defeated numerous heroes who'd beaten her in the past. Though this form of Titania was nearly unstoppable, the Serpent's defeat led to all the magic hammers being confiscated, leaving Titania to revert to her base power.

1 Titania Wielded The Power Gem

After a brief attempt at everyday and non-villainous life, Titania's thirst for fighting She-Hulk became unquenchable. However, unaware She-Hulk's power had grown substantially, Titania was quickly defeated when they fought in She-Hulk Vol 1 #10 by Dan Slott and Paul Pelletier.

Later in the issue, Titania was offered to chance to obtain the Power Gem: one of the legendary Infinity Gems. Hearing an offer from Tryco Slatterus, the former Champion of the Universe, Titania accepted the Power Gem on the condition she'd defeat She-Hulk, which also allowed Slatterus revenge by proxy for his loss at She-Hulk's hands.
