Attack On Titan is widely regarded as one of the best Animes of all time. The entertaining and dark story it tells feels different compared to a majority of other Anime that fall into a similar category. However, it would be a lie to say it doesn't have its issues.

Attack On Titan has made mistakes. Whether it would be a story decision or doing something unnecessary, some of these mistakes have and will continue to not age well. To explain some of these mistakes, some spoilers will be included.

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Attack on Titan Season 4.

10 Sasha's Unnecessary Death

Sasha Blouse in Attack on Titan anime

Ever since Gabi shot Sasha, fans have only been able to sit there and ask why. Her death felt unnecessary in the eyes of many fans and almost forced. Killing her out of nowhere did not provide any sort of progression with the plot.

The only thing that Sasha's death accomplished was making Gabbi one of the most hated anime characters of all time. Sasha was a side protagonist that fans grew to like over time. Her lively personality helped bring some brightness into an otherwise serious Anime. Her death will forever feel random and pointless.

9 Eren's Relationship Regression With His Friends

Eren, Mikasa and Armin in Attack on Titan anime

Technically speaking, all of Eren's actions in the final season are done with his loved ones in mind. His wish to utilize the full power of the Founding Titan isn't done due to some change of heart. Eren may act as the villain, but he is not evil.

However, Eren does not communicate with his friends at all about what his true intentions are. He keeps them in the dark and puts them all through physical and psychological pain. Eren going through character progression is good, but abandoning his friends and treating them the way he did was not something that made sense for his character.

8 Anime Pacing Issues

One of Attack On Titan's biggest criticisms is the strange pacing of the anime. At certain moments, the plot seems to drag on. Season one in particular suffers big time in that regard. A common complaint is the show felt like it was purposefully dragged on to reach 25 episodes.

A major pacing complaint stems from it taking three entire episodes for Eren to plug the hole in Wall Maria. The Manga progresses far quicker in that regard and the same applies for the expedition beyond the walls soon after. The anime adds on numerous unnecessary moments that make it feel far more sluggish than its manga counterpart.

7 Zeke's Irrational Decision Making

Zeke reveals that he controls the Founder in Attack on Titan

For a majority of Attack On Titan, Zeke was an intriguing character for the fans. Zeke being the half-brother of Eren, along with his strength and intelligence, makes him one of the most popular characters of the series. Unfortunately, Zeke's imperfections slowly but surely come to the surface as his character gets more involved with the plot.

For starters, he is responsible for the death of his parents. He coldly turned them in due to a difference in beliefs. If that wasn't enough, he unreasonably wished to sterilize an entire population when the problem easily could have been resolved through different means. Despite his intelligence, Zeke oftentimes does not think his plans through, which can make his character less enjoyable to look back on.

6 Armin Gets The Colossal Titan Over Erwin

Armin Gets Moritified In Attack On Titan

Regardless of how likable Armin's character is, the decision to keep him alive over Erwin is controversial, to say the least. Armin may be an expert strategist, but Erwin was the leader every character looked up to. Fans can't help but wonder how different the story could have turned had he stayed alive.

Not everyone likes Armin's hesitance. Some fans prefer Erwin's bravery and general ability to make a difference on and off the battlefield, and think these traits make him a better candidate for Titan powers.

5 Too Many Useless Characters

Jean and Connie mourn Sasha in Attack on Titan

A common complaint among Attack On Titan fans is the number of characters who don't feel like they add much to the show. Much of the time, the side characters are seen as an annoyance or waste of screen time. Conny and Hange are great examples. Both of them are useless for their own specific reasons.

Conny fails to contribute much to the development of the main characters, and he does not pull off any interesting acts that make him stand out. Meanwhile, Hange was a filler character early on who made forced jokes for most of the series. Her over-the-top personality does not fit in much with the serious overall tone of the series.

4 The Poor Treatment Of The Eldians

Louise in Attack on Titan

The Eldians have it hard in the story of Attack On Titan. In just one example, Marley treats Eldians like beings who are not human. Taking over their land and caging them as if they are devils is harsh, to say the least.

The treatment of Eldians can easily be compared to quite a few historical events. In the grand scheme of things, this may not be a good thing as fans think back on the series. Anime is supposed to be a form of entertainment and escape, not something that reminds fans of potentially triggering subjects.

3 Mikasa's Poor Character Changes

It's no secret that Mikasa is one of the most popular characters from Attack On Titan. The first few seasons showcased her incredible power and skills as a warrior that immediately made her a standout character. Not to mention that she was a common crush among hardcore fans. However, Mikasa lost some of her appeal in the final season.

For one, some fans did not like Miksa's appearance change after the time skip. Additionally, her brave and ruthless personality took a major hit as she feels far more emotionally vulnerable. Eren's blatant lies to her face put her down in the dumps for much of part one of the final season. She doesn't feel enough like herself which results in fans being disappointed in how her character became less likable over the years.

2 Eren Wipes Out Most Of Humanity

The Rumbling in Attack on Titan

In the manga, Eren takes out 80 percent of the human population after initiating the Rumbling. The issue is this does not reflect Eren's character. For most of Attack On Titan, it is Eren's goal to save people. It's true that the Rumbling did ensure the safety of his friends for the rest of their lives, but Eren became a warrior so the world would see less destruction, not more.

Eren refused to consider compromising with the outside world like his friends. He got rid of the titans at the cost of billions of innocent lives. It is very unlike a protagonist to pull off such an act and is surely a part of the story some fans will continue to frown upon for years to come.

1 Unsatisfying Manga Ending

Attack-On-Titan-Ending-Problems-Ruined

Attack On Titan's Manga ending has received a ton of backlash since the final chapter. Not only is Eren gone for good, but the conclusion, in general, feels pointless. Eren's choice to sacrifice himself and most of humanity was not the only way to accomplish the end goal. A simple request to Ymir to eliminate the titans from existence was all that was needed, in theory. So much unnecessary violence and unhappiness could have been avoided using simple logic.

Eren's sacrifice in the Manga's ending was noble in some ways and him reassuring his friends he cares about them was a nice touch. But in the end, the Rumbling, along with failing to tie up loose ends, just leaves a lingering bad taste behind. What many fans considered to be a masterpiece will forever live on as one of the most frustrating endings to a series of all time.
