Over three and a half years since the series was canceled, a new Daredevil series is reportedly in the works at Disney+, according to Variety. Matt Corman and Chris Ord are rumored to be executive producers and writers on the latest Disney+ project. The two writers were not involved in the original series, but are known for co-creating Covert Affairs, which ran for four seasons on the USA Network.

However, as Corman and Ord get to work, some things from the original series should be nixed from the new incarnation.

7 The Red Suit Should Not Return

Daredevil: Could the New Disney+ Series Adapt the Shadowland Storyline?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has become known for militarized and sometimes overcomplicated suits. Daredevil fell victim to that with the red suit that was introduced at the end of the first season. The suit was one of the most divisive aspects of the show, with some fans loving it and others despising it, but season three brought the suit's time to a close when Bullseye wore it.

With his suit taken, Matt Murdock reverted to the simple all-black suit, inspired by Frank Miller's run with the Man Without Fear. Murdock wore Daredevil's new outfit in the final episode. The MCU should leave the red suit in the past and keep the all-black suit as it makes the character and the show stand out from the rest of Disney+.

6 Matt's Commitment To Just Hell's Kitchen Should Be Expanded

The original series has been praised for being self-contained, and part of that came from staying within Hell's Kitchen. It set the show apart from the rest of the MCU and gave the Netflix series a unique feel. Rather than just another piece to the puzzle, Daredevil was its own thing, and that is what made it so special.

Now that the blind vigilante is joining the MCU, it is time for the character to go out of Hell's Kitchen and be involved in the rest of New York. He should not be fighting aliens with the Guardians, but expanding his reach in New York City, even interacting with Spider-Man.

5 The Hand And Other Mystical Elements Did Not Fit The Show

The Hand Nobu Daredevil Marvel Netflix

Daredevil was a brilliant show with an excellent cast of antagonists, but almost all the fans agree that the second half of season two was a low point in the series. The gripping storyline that followed the Punisher took a back seat to The Hand, a mystical group of Warriors bent on order and world domination.

The villains felt out of place in what was a grounded superhero drama, and the countless number of faceless ninjas made the villains feel hollow. The group was defeated in The Defenders, but the great power of the group was immortality, leaving a small window open for a return. That window should be shut for good, with Wilson Fisk returning to Hell's Kitchen.

4 The Defenders Should Remain Separated

Marvel's The Defenders

The Defenders was the Avengers team-up show for the Marvel Netflix series, and the show struggled to find its footing, receiving mixed reviews for its uneven story. The concept was good, and the cast was top-notch, but Disney+'s Daredevil should leave Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist alone for the time being.

The six-episode model will be tight for a show like Daredevil, and including characters like the Defenders would distract from the plot and create a bloated show. Focusing on Matt, Foggy, and Karen is one of the major strengths of the original series, and should be embraced with the new edition.

3 Elektra Should Stay Dead

Elektra showing up in Daredevil

Crucial to the plot of The Hand in season two and in The Defenders, Elektra took center stage as an anti-hero and Matt Murdock's first love. Unfortunately, mysticism and ninjas never quite fit in an otherwise grounded show, and the love affair between Elektra and Matt Murdock felt forced.

She has been killed off twice already, seemingly for real at the end of The Defenders, but Matt’s survival shows anything is possible. Elodie Young was good in the role, but Disney should leave the character out of the new series.

2 Rampant Police Corruption Is Played Out

Foggy Nelson and Agent Ray Nadeem

Even with the possible inclusion of Wilson Fisk as the villain of the new series, writers Corman and Ord should steer clear of the standard police corruption, "everyone is in on it" storyline that has dominated the show in previous years.

Fisk and Hell's Kitchen corruption created a truly compelling story and helped stack the deck against the heroes, but the new series should head in a different direction. Matt Murdock working with Peter Parker has been tossed around, but the show's core can follow Nelson, Murdock, and Page as they build the firm up.

1 The Punisher Deserves His Own Show

The revival of Daredevil likely means that other Marvel Netflix series will be continued in the near future, and the return of Jon Bernthal as The Punisher is something that fans would like to see. Despite this, the new Daredevil series should leave Bernthal's character on the sidelines for now and keep the focus on Matt Murdock and the rest of the main cast.

If the new series follows the Disney+ model, it will only have six episodes. With that limited run, the show should remain focused on the main cast of the show and not reintroduce a character like the Punisher.
