The creators behind Cardcaptor Sakura and Chobits are famous for creating captivating worlds that their audience can get drawn into. Whether it is their manga or the anime adaptation, CLAMP works are recognizable by their art styles, magic, and charm, even if the genres are completely different.

CLAMP is known for its crossovers, including two series heavily based on using beloved characters from other works: xxxHolic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. While many crossovers are blatantly obvious, others can be easily missed if you are not familiar with other CLAMP works. Coupled along with crossovers, series that are in the same universe, and more, this list has you covered on 10 things you didn't know about the CLAMP universe.

10 Wish, Legal Drug, Suki: A Like Story, Kobato, And XxxHolic Take Place In The Same Universe

While many of CLAMP series feature crossovers, Wish, xxxHolic, Kobato, Suki: A Like Story, and Legal Drug/ Drug & Drop actually occur in the same world with no universe jumping required. Unlike in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, when you see a cameo of Rikuou or Watanuki in one of these series, it isn't a different universe version of them. It is the actual character existing at the same time.

It can be said that this particular world was created with Wish in 1995. Legal Drug, later revamped to Drug & Drop, came next and features two characters who are later revealed to be characters from Wish. In xxxHolic, Watanuki visits the pharmacy Rikuou and Kazahaya work at.

9 Angelic Layer And Chobits Take Place In The Same Universe

In the Chobits manga, there are a few subtle references that inform the audience the story is taking place in the same world as Angelic Layer, just some years in the future. The battle dolls were created by Ichiro Mihara, who guides Misaki in Angelic Layer. In Chobits, he is revealed to be Chitose's husband, who passed away before the start of the series.

A few chapters prior, Minoru's flashback reveals his sister Kaede is the same from Angelic Layer. Misaki, Ohjiro, and Sai can be seen visiting Kaede on her deathbed.

8 Man Of 20 Faces And CLAMP School Detectives Take Place in the Same Universe as Tokyo Babylon And X/1999

It is no secret that Tokyo Babylon takes place in the same universe as X/1999 as we see both Subaru Sumeragi and Seishiro Sakurazuka in X/1999. Both characters play important roles as Subaru is a Dragons of Heaven and Seishiro is a Dragon of Earth. X/1999 also features Subaru recounting the events that took place in Tokyo Babylon.

What casual viewers may have missed was an appearance by the CLAMP School Detectives: Noroku, Souh, and Akira. Since Akira is also the star of Man of 20 Faces, his appearance links these series together.

7 Mokona Originated From Magic Knight Rayearth And Does Not Talk

Long before the white Mokona traveled the CLAMP universes with Syaoran and the gang, he lived in Cephiro and aided Hikaru, Umi, and Fuu in Magic Knight Rayearth. In Cephiro, Mokona is a he and plays a big role in finding Princess Emeraude. It is later revealed in the manga, Mokana is the creator of both Earth and Cephiro.

The Mokonas in xxxHolic and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle are genderless and were created by Yuko and Clow Reed. While many grew to love both the white Mokona and its black counterpart for their witty comebacks, the original Mokona only said "puu."

6 Hikaru The Battle Angel Is Inspired By Hikaru The Magic Knight Rayearth

A lot of CLAMP's Easter eggs are usually manga only and may require the audience to have knowledge about their other series. This is the case in Angelic Layer, where the inspiration for the battle angel Hikaru is revealed. Misaki states her inspiration for her angel's appearance is from another manga heroine.

While she does not state Hikaru's name directly, readers can see Hikaru's back and her iconic knight outfit. Battle angel Hikaru also has short pink hair, sans the long braid, like Magic Knight Rayearth Hikaru. Battle angel Hikaru's outfit is also red, black, and white reminiscent of Hikaru's knight armor.

5 Miyuki-Chan Is In Different Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle Worlds

Many newer CLAMP fans may not know about Muyiku-chan since she's an older character. Miyuki-chan In Wonderland was a one-shot manga series starring Miyuki-chan, who ends up going on an Alice in Wonderland-inspired adventure. This story has mature themes that may catch recent CLAMP fans by surprise.

In Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, the beloved Miyuki-chan makes an appearance in almost every single world. Unlike some of the other crossovers, Miyuki-chan is drawn very small and can be easy to overlook in the chaos of the scene. In a lot of the depictions, she has a piece of toast in her mouth.

4 Yumeragi In XxxHolic

In both the xxxHolic manga and anime, our main characters Watanuki and Domeki find themselves on a double date to the movies. On the big screen appears to be a random movie, however, seasoned CLAMP fans will recognize the flying girl on screen as no other than Tatsumi of Yumeragi.

Yumeragi is a short story by CLAMP from 1996. The story follows Tatsumi Houjyou who was born a yumeragi, or a dream hunter. Unfortunately for CLAMP fans, there was never an official publication and there is no follow up or completed story.

3 Piffle Princess & The CLAMP Store

It can be said that the Piffle Princess logo serves as the unofficial mascot of the CLAMP universe. The store, whether physically shown or not, has played a role across many CLAMP titles. In Cardcaptor Sakura and xxxHolic, characters can be seen with items bearing the Piffle Princess logo. In Angelic Layer, the battle angels can be purchased at Piffle Princess and so can the persocoms in Chobits.

In Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, CLAMP created an entire Piffle World where Tomoyo heads the Piffle Princess Company. In the Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card anime, there is a bonus reference to Angelic Layer as you can see the creator Icchan with the Piffle Princess mascot.

2 Watanuki In Blood-C

Blood-C is an outlier in the CLAMP universe because it is not a CLAMP original. The anime series is part of the Blood+ franchise and for this iteration, CLAMP was brought on for writing and character designs. It was also directed by Tsutomu Mizushima, who also directed xxxHolic.

In Blood-C, Watanuki Kimihiro makes a surprise cameo appearance. He first appears as a dog and later on is revealed to be Watanuki. It is unclear if this tie-in means we will see Saya and other Blood-C characters make cameos in future CLAMP series.

1 Murikuri In XxxHolic

This final reference happens so quickly it can go unnoticed if the reader is not familiar with Murikuri. Murikuri is another cult CLAMP short story that was never officially published. It is a collection of short stories ranging from a talking pig to a man who is three months pregnant.

In xxxHolic, the pig's cameo happens in the first few chapters in the manga while Watanuki is in the shop's storage room. It is unclear if it is a stuffed animal or a statue, however, it is very clear that it is the pig from Murikuri.
