In this feature, I examine comic book fights that were particularly notable in the wrong side winning (or at least that the fight wasn't won the "right" way). This really isn't a big deal, of course, as it doesn't really matter if the "wrong" person won a fight. But it's fun to talk about!

If you want to suggest a fight for future inclusion in this feature, drop me a line at bcronin@comicbookresources.com. Don't suggest a fight in the comments!

For the latest fight, based on a bunch of suggestions, we look at She-Hulk's battle with Hawkeye in West Coast Avengers Annual #2.

As always, the first page spotlights their power levels and the second page examines the fight itself.

With She-Hulk, I really don't need to say anything other than this...she was once considered to be on the same strength level as SPIDER-MAN by SPIDER-MAN HIMSELF!!!

Note that that she is quick to point out that this is just his opinion, as in the years since, She-Hulk seems to be viewed as even stronger than that (the logic with Silver Surfer's strength level also seems to be pretty specious - "I don't have to be strong because I have the Power Cosmic!" Okay, sure, but that doesn't mean that you're NOT also super strong).

The most important thing to remember about She-Hulk is that she's not a moron.

Now on to Hawkeye. Yes, he has no super powers of his own, but he has more than held his own with his trusty bow and arrow. Check out this time that he defeated the Collector singlehandely somehow!

So WITH his bow and arrow, Hawkeye has a way of surprising you. He's likely a BIT out of his league against She-Hulk, but with his bow and arrow, I can see scenarios where it might work out. Without them, she's just too big, strong and quick. In Avengers #222, Hawkeye clearly isn't treating this like a life or death situation, but at the same token, he also clearly IS trying to avoid her and she grabs him like it is nothing (or should I say "She grabs him like he's the X-Men and she's Spider-Man).

So let's see how the fight went...

Steve Englehart and Al Milgrom are the creative team for West Coast Avengers Annual #2.

Okay, to start, Hawkeye notes that his explosive arrows, AS FIRED FROM AN ARROW AT HIGH SPEEDS, has no effect on her...

Then she uses her quickness and strength to destroy his bow and arrows.

Okay, fight over, right? Somehow wrong!

First off, just when she's about to win, she does something unbelievably stupid...

Very silly.

But okay, whatever. Then she is somehow underwater long enough for Hawkeye to CONSTRUCT A BOW!!

Remember the explosive arrows that didn't faze her before? Well, now they do, but only when thrown not nearby her. Fired directly at her, nothing. Thrown in the vicinity of her? Enough to knock her further back...

Which is important, because that turns out to be the key to his win...

I think She-Hulk should win this fight, but I can accept a Hawkeye win, just not under these precise conditions.

That's it for this installment!

Maybe I'll just finish off my last real problem fight from West Coast Avengers Annual #2 (I don't think the Tigra/Doctor Druid fight made a whole lot of sense, but it wasn't as bad as this other last one)!
