In this feature, I examine comic book fights that were particularly notable in the wrong side winning (or at least that the fight wasn't won the "right" way). This really isn't a big deal, of course, as it doesn't really matter if the "wrong" person won a fight. But it's fun to talk about!
If you want to suggest a fight for future inclusion in this feature, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org. Don't suggest a fight in the comments!
For the latest fight, we'll take a look at the time that Daredevil defeated the Black Widow in a couple of seconds.
The Black Widow is pretty darn badass. This can be seen in a number of different comics, but let me spotlight just a couple. In Marvel Two-in-One #10 (by Chris Claremont, Bob Brown and Klaus Janson), she has to keep some bad guys off of the Thing. So she then takes on ONE HUNDRED bad guys over a series of hours and defeats them ALL!
In her 2010 series (by Marjorie Liu and Daniel Acuna), she is so tough that after she is severely wounded, she WOKE UP DURING SURGERY AND THEN DID NOT MOVE A MUSCLE DURING THE SURGERY!!
So that was #1. Two issues later, after having just gone under major surgery, she STILL manages to fight Elektra (ELEKTRA!!) to a standstill...
Daredevil, for his part, is equally badass and likely even MORE so. He's held his own against Spider-Man, who is the most powerful being in the known universe. So I have no problem whatsoever with Daredevil defeating the Black Widow in battle. However, when you see HOW he defeats her in this given fight, well, I would imagine that you'll agree with me that this not the right way for this fight to go. So now on to the fight!
