In this feature, I examine comic book fights that were particularly notable in the wrong side winning (or at least that the fight wasn't won the "right" way). This really isn't a big deal, of course, as it doesn't really matter if the "wrong" person won a fight. But it's fun to talk about!

If you want to suggest a fight for future inclusion in this feature, drop me a line at bcronin@comicbookresources.com. Don't suggest a fight in the comments!

This week, we take a look at what is likely the current most requested fight as suggested by readers (a whole pile of you wrote in with this one), the time that the Hulk was choked out...by a snake.

As always, the first page spotlights their power levels and the second page examines the fight itself.

And as always, the first question we need to ask is...

How did these people do when they fought Spider-Man?

We've covered how well the Hulk has done against Spider-Man - the answer is really, really well.

But how has Spider-Man done against SNAKES?

Interestingly enough, Princess Python and her massive python actually made their debut in Amazing Spider-Man #22 (by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee). Here's how it went down...

So the answer is - not really well.

As a quick aside, I love Princess Python's interaction with Spider-Man in the issue...

"What, are you dense? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the Goddamn Princess Python!"

Perhaps the snake's greatest feat was when the Circus of Crime attacked the Avengers after the Wasp and Yellowjacket got married...

Okay, so we now know that the snake would be able to take out an entire team of X-Men, but what about the Hulk?

The Hulk has actually fought the snake before, in Incredible Hulk #217 (by Len Wein, Sal Buscema and Ernie Chan). It did not go so well for the snake...

But what about the rematch?

Read on for the fight!

The basic gist of Joe Casey's brief run on Incredible Hulk following the departure of Peter David is that with his wife now dead, Bruce Banner/Hulk is despondent. He keeps trying to kill himself, but the Hulk is too powerful to allow himself to die. Like he'll shoot himself, but turn into the Hulk before the bullet can strike him. Stuff like that.

So do keep in mind that the Hulk is in a very down mood when this fight occurred in Incredible Hulk #470 by Casey, Ed McGuinness and Nathan Massengill...

Soooo...yeah, choked out by a snake. Later today, in Comic Book Legends Revealed, I'll have Joe Casey's reveal of the behind-the-scenes aspect of this fight. Look for that in a few hours!

Okay, that's it for this week! Feel free send in suggestions for future installments to bcronin@comicbookresources.com!
