The first trailer for The World's End will arrive at some point this week, and actor/co-writer Simon Pegg decided to celebrate that big reveal with a new poster for the movie. The actor took to Twitter to release the above image, which shows him and co-star Nick Frost in over their heads during what was supposed to be just a normal pub crawl.
"To celebrate World's End teaser trailer week, here's the brand new official teaser poster. This is not a tease," Pegg tweeted.
The World's End reunites Pegg and Frost with director Edgar Wright, ans serves as the conclusion to the trio's "Blood and Ice Cream" trilogy. Wright said previously that it was important to him to finish this before he got started on Ant-Man.
"I wanted to make World’s End," Wright says of why he waited to make Ant-Man. "Me and Simon were very keen to make it and it felt like it was unfinished business and we wanted to wrap up the trilogy. The script came together really fast. Well not really fast, but it came together at a certain point where it was like ‘I really want to do this next.’”
The World's End stars Pegg, Frost, Paddy Considine, Martin Freeman and Eddie Marsan as they team up for a pub-crawl reunion. It's clear from the above poster that that plan quickly spirals out of control. Pegg and Write co-wrote the screenplay. The film is due in theaters on Aug. 23. It acts as a spiritual follow-up to Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Here's the official synopsis:
20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
