There were many characters and events that Netflix's The Witcher simply could not bring to the screen-- not just story elements from Andrzej Sapkowski's novel series, but entirely new ideas that showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich and her team initially wished to include.

Hissrich revealed in an interview with Pure Fandom that there were, "So many scenes that had to be cut from the final episodes... Such is the curse of television." She went on to describe two of them, both of which centered on the sorceress, Yennefer of Vengerberg. "We had a lovely scene in Episode 103 where Yennefer, Fringilla, and Sabrina all discussed how they felt about their transformations, and looking back, I wish we could have kept it," the showrunner said. She then explained that the scene might have helped to expand on Fringilla Vigo's character prior to her decision to serve Nilfgaard.

The second scene that the showrunner described introduced the friendship between Yen and Triss Merigold, a friendship that was only established in the Season 1 penultimate episode, "Before A Fall." Hissrich explained that their relationship was originally much deeper than it may have appeared in the series, "We also filmed a scene of Yen meeting a very young Triss, who'd just arrived at Aretuza; it served to show how far Yennefer had come in her years at Aretuza, and created a sense of mentorship between these two sorceresses."

The fate of Fringilla Vigo remains uncertain. She will likely continue serving as an antagonist in Season 2. Should the Netflix series continue adhering Sapkowski's novels in terms of the overarching narrative, audiences should also expect to see the return of Triss Merigold. While the novels do not provide her with a large part to play in the overarching story, the live-action adaptation seems to be heading in a different direction and will likely feature her more prominently than her literary counterpart.

Season 1 of The Witcher is now available on Netflix and stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 2 is currently in development. It is expected to premiere in 2021.
