Now that all the major pieces of The Witcher have been established, Season 2 of the hit Netflix series can delve into the meat of Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy saga, meaning audiences can expect to see some of the most complex, frustratingly shady characters adapted, like the fan-favorite, Sigismund Dijkstra-- the famed head of Redanian Intelligence.

A new audition tape has made its way online. It features The Hobbit actor Graham McTavish reading lines for a character named "David," in a conversation with a king about information and a mysterious prisoner. While the scene itself was likely created specifically for auditions, as was done for Season 1, there are plenty of hints littered throughout that indicate "David" is really Dijkstra...

The very first line heard in the tape alludes to the spymaster: "For such a large man, David, you move remarkably like the wind," a voice says. In the novels, Dijkstra, also known as Sigi Reuven, is described as quite a sizeable person, standing at almost seven feet tall. Then there's the talk of information, news and at one point a mention of "David's" spies. There is always room for doubt, but all evidence seems to point at this being an audition for the Redanian spy.

It's worth keeping in mind that when an audition tape is posted online, it's usually because the actor did not get the role, which means -- though there are exceptions -- we may not see McTavish in The Continent after all.

Season 2 of The Witcher will continue to adapt Blood of Elves -- which introduced Dijkstra -- as well as a few more short stories from Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish. Pre-production will reportedly begin soon though the next season will not air until 2021.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available for streaming on Netflix.
