Fans of Netflix's The Witcher were given a lot to gnaw on at WitcherCon, including the thought of a song that may be greater than "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" from Season 1.
Discussing the series on the final panel of WitcherCon, Witcher star Henry Cavill answered a question about whether or not Season 2 will have any hit songs that might be comparable to Joey Batey's Season 1 masterpiece. While the actor was reserved when it came to specifics, he stated, "There is something pretty darn good, actually. Joey is very talented. And there is something pretty darn good, but only time will tell."
"Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" made its debut in The Witcher Season 1, in the episode "Four Marks." The final sequence of the episode sees Jaskier, played by singer and actor Joey Batey, perform the beloved song in an attempt to reshape Geralt's perception across the Continent using his skills as a bard.
The song was composed by Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli, though the idea for the song and its lyrics came from co-executive producer Jenny Klein, who concocted the piece while considering Geralt's predicament with regard to the witcher's reputation, and wished to give Jaskier the task of improving his friend's image.
Shortly after the release of The Witcher Season 1, "Toss a Coin to Your Witcher" started seeing a multitude of covers in a variety of different genres from rap to heavy metal. A mod was even created, bringing the song into CD Projekt Red's The Witcher.
