After releasing stills teasing Geralt of Rivia and Ciri as they will appear in Season 2 of The Witcher, Netflix has provided audiences with new images of Yennefer, teasing her fate in the aftermath of Season 1.

The images showcase Yennefer of Vengerberg in rags, bearing wounds and in shackles. It is unknown who has captured her or where she is, though the photos appear to feature a dark forest in the background, filled with unknown figures.

The Season 1 finale saw Yennefer combating the forces of Nilfgaard at the Battle of Sodden alongside her fellow mages from Aretuza. After virtually all her companions fell to the enemy, Yennefer was able to single-handedly secure victory by unleashing an inferno upon the Nilgaardian soldiers. However, immediately after doing so, she vanished.

It is unknown where or when she will reappear in the upcoming season of The Witcher, or why she appears in chains. Reports and recent photos suggest that Season 2 will adapt Andrzej Sapkowski's Blood of Elves, which makes mention of the Battle of Sodden Hill, explaining that, while it resulted in Nilfgaard's retreat, 14 of the 22 mages that joined the battle were killed, and many, like Yennefer, were left severely injured.

Netflix recently released stills of both Geralt and Ciri in new costumes, teasing their respective storylines, which appear to take place at the witcher fortress of Kaer Morhen. The stills of Yennefer are the last set focusing on key characters. It should be noted that production on Season 2 of The Witcher continues and is expected to be completed by February 2021.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix.
