Although The Witcher successfully broke Netflix’s record for the most viewers during a first-season launch, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich isn't celebrating but instead looking ahead to Season 2. That said, she intends to make Season 2 even better… by embracing the mistakes learned from Season 1.

"Everything about The Witcher has been a real learning process for me," Hissrich confessed on the Writer Experience podcast. "It’s the beauty of being able to do this for the first time and then get to come back and do it again. […] Season two is exciting. It’s a chance to look at the mistakes we’ve made in season one and do it better, tell stories better, improve some things, look at what didn’t work, get rid of it and start over."

One specific aspect Hissrich acknowledged was the show’s controversial Nilfgaardian armor, which she promises will be "totally different" in the next season. "You have that opportunity [with Season 2] to go back and course-correct if you want to."

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix and Season 2 is currently in development.
