Netflix's The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is just a few short days from release. To stoke the eagerness of franchise fans, the streaming giant has released a series of new character posters, introducing some of the witchers, mages and nobles that audiences can expect to see in the anime tie-in.The posters introduce a much younger Vesemir than longtime fans may be used to, Tetra, Deglan and a collection of characters, both old and new. It isn't just gorgeous images that Netflix released, each poster was accompanied by brief descriptions of each new character, like Tetra Gilcrest, the "powerful sorceress who works to keep peace on the Continent by ensuring that magic is not abused;" Luka, "An outspoken witcher and compatriot of Vesemir's," Deglan is described as, "A hardened warrior-leader of the witchers and committed to doing whatever is necessary to protect his 'boys.'" Finally, Lady Zerbst is "a Kaedwen noblewoman who is one of the king’s most trusted advisors, and a fierce supporter of the witchers."RELATED: The Witcher: Blood Origin Announces the Full Cast

Reviews for Netflix's anime tie-in have been released and are largely positive, with many critics expressing some amount of certainty that Nightmare of the Wolf will appeal to fans of The Witcher. The film brings to life an era in the Continent's history that neither Andrzej Sapkowski's novels or CD Projekt Red's video games have delved into: Vesemir's past and Kaer Morhen at its peak.

Discussing the decision to expand on an unexplored area of the lore, writer Beau DeMayo previously told CBR, "I can tell you though that I never really felt, at least with this project, that I was ever really stepping out of line with what I think fans would want. Because, again, I came to Witcher before I got this job. I was just as much a fan before as I am now after, that I kind of just trusted my own Spidey-sense of like, 'If this would piss me off, then it would probably piss most fans off because I'm pretty much that person.' So I trusted my gut and my North Star always."

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is scheduled to be released on Aug. 23. The anime tie-in was produced by Studio Mir and is set long before the events of Season 1 of Netflix's The Witcher. The film introduces Vesemir and Kaer Morhen to the Netflix adaptation before both make their live-action debut in Season 2.
