A new photo of The Witcher's stunts workshop shows off the extensive collection of swords manufactured for the Netflix fantasy series' upcoming third season.

Executive producer Steve Gaub shared the behind-the-scenes image on Instagram. It features well over 50 prop swords lined up against the workshop wall, with at least one of the blades partially coated in green paint to facilitate the addition of visual effects during post-production. Several short swords and daggers are also visible, as well as a quartet of axes.

Filming on The Witcher Season 3 kicked off in April 2022. Netflix celebrated this milestone by releasing a photo of stars Henry Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer of Vengerberg) and Freya Allen (Ciri of Cintra) taking a break on one of the show's snow-covered location sets. The streaming platform also released the third season's official synopsis, which teases that Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri will have to contend with dark magic and even darker political machinations.

Netflix subsequently announced several new additions to The Witcher's cast, as well. Of these new faces, the most well-known are Upload's Robbie Amell, who will play elf warrior Gallatin, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' Meng’er Zhang, who will play dryad huntress Milva. Amell and Zhang will be joined by fellow Season 3 newcomers Hugh Skinner (Radovid) and Christelle Elwin (Mistle).

A recent report suggests that The Witcher Season 3 will also introduce two sorceresses featured in Andrzej Sapkowski's original novel series. This rumor claims Keira Metz and Margarita Laux-Antille, who are both powerful members of the Lodge of Sorceresses in the books, will debut in the upcoming season. It further alleges that actors Rochelle Rose and Safiyya Ingar have been cast as Keira and Margarita, respectively. Netflix has yet to officially confirm that either Rose or Ingar is attached to the production.

As Season 3 edges closer to completion, director Stephen Surjik recently confirmed that The Witcher Season 4 is already mapped out, too. "The writers and producers mapped out Season 4," he said. "I don't know if I'm part of that mapping program, but at least they told me that they're mapping it out." Surjik directed the first two episodes of The Witcher Season 2 and will call the shots on the third season's first two episodes, as well.

The Witcher Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Netflix. Season 3 does not yet have a release date.
