Actor Henry Cavill's final appearance as Geralt of Rivia is about to come to an end and one fan of Netflix's The Witcher sculpted a stunning tribute to his performance as the monster slayer.

Shared on social media, the fan uses a variety of materials and techniques to transform a printed bust of Cavill into a detailed and almost lifelike recreation of his appearance on the successful Netflix series, with the fan writing that it's their way of leaving everyone "something to remember him by."

Henry Cavill Leaves The Witcher

Cavill's exit from the series was announced back in October, along with confirmation that the show had been renewed for a fourth season and that actor Liam Hemsworth had been cast as the new Geralt. The announcement has been met with widespread backlash, largely because it came shortly after former series writer Beau DeMayo made claims that the writers room "actively disliked" Andrzej Sapkowski's novels and the video games.

Since then, there has been widespread speculation that it was this rumored approach by The Witcher's creative team that led to Cavill's exit. And, in fact, there have been reports suggesting Cavill did not see eye to eye with the Netflix show's producers, resulting in early discussions about recasting before Season 3 had entered production. However, neither Cavill nor Netflix have confirmed these claims.

The Witcher Season 3 and Conflicts On and Off Screen

It should be noted that, while no comment has been provided concerning the reasons behind Cavill's departure, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich has dismissed DeMayo's claims and assured audiences that the members of the writers room are enthusiastic about the novels and games. Furthermore, she has promised there will be discussions about Cavill's exit, but this will come at a later date, nearer to The Witcher Season 3's release.

The upcoming season will adapt the events and characters of the novel Time of Contempt (translated by David French), which sees Ciri, Yennefer and Geralt further embroiled in a conflict between the Northern Kingdoms and Nilfgaard. A synopsis was released early on as The Witcher Season 3 began production, teasing a return to Aretuza and the discovery of both political and magical corruption.

The Witcher Season 3 is set to be released sometime in the summer of 2023.
