Filming is currently underway for Season 2 of Netflix's The Witcher and audiences are being treated to a variety of news, not just from official announcements, but leaks from the set in Surrey, UK. The most recent leaks showcase the rise of the elves on the Continent.New photos were posted to Twitter, showcasing the return of Tom Canton as the Elven king, Filavandrel of the Silver Towers. It appears that Canton will be dressed in a slightly different costume this time around, courtesy of Season 2's costume designer, Lucinda Wright. The photos also seem to show him surrounded by other elves, indicating that this is an Elven camp. It is no coincidence that earlier reports revealed that actor Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer, was seen on set in the area, accompanied by numerous extras in elf costumes.RELATED: The Witcher: Netflix Casts A Witcher, A Vampire And More For Season 2

What this suggests is that Yen may encounter Filavandrel and that the two, together, will shape the Elven militia. It isn't clear from the photos what scene is being filmed or what story is being adapted. However, as Season 2 of The Witcher will likely adapt the events and characters of Andrzej Sapkowski's Blood of Elves, it is very likely that the elves and -- what appear to be humans -- in the photos are at least allied with, if not members of, the Scoia'tael, the non-human guerrilla faction fighting against the humans of the Continent.

Filavandrel appeared in a single episode of Season 1, "Four Marks," which adapted the short story, "The Edge of the World," and explained the state of the Elven population in the Northern Realms. Later episodes neglected to explore how they fared in the years that followed, and presumably skipped a lot of the faction's history. In fact, it is worth noting that the events that occurred in "Four Marks," with regard to Geralt of Rivia, will have occurred almost two decades prior to the start of Season 2. It might at least help to explain Filavandrel's new look within the show's continuity.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, Freya Allan as Ciri and Joey Batey as Jaskier. Season 1 is now available on Netflix. Season 2 is currently in production and is set to be released in 2021.
