Netflix's The Witcher: Blood Origin recently moved production to the United Kingdom, where reports and images are starting to flow more freely than when filming took place in Iceland, giving audiences a glimpse into the ancient Continent they can expect to see in the upcoming series.

A new report from Redanian Intelligence indicated that the stars of the show -- Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain and Michelle Yeoh -- have been filming at Frensham Little Pond. Alongside small, blurry images of the actors in costume, reports from the set detailed actors filming a fight scene filmed with a long pole, likely to prepare for VFX work later and therefore indicating the appearance of a sizeable monster. In fact, the use of a pole suggests that it may be larger than many of the monsters Netflix's The Witcher presented, aside from the dragon or kikimore.

News from the upcoming live-action project has been slow to come since the series' announcement back in July 2020. It was only recently that the full cast had been announced. Aside from Laurence O’Fuarain as Fjall, Sophia Brown as Éile and Michelle Yeoh as Scían, The Witcher: Blood Origin will star Mirren Mack as Merwyn, Lenny Henry as Balor, Jacob Collins Levy as the Wild Hunt king Eredin, Lizzie Annis as Zacaré, Huw Novelli as Callan "Brother Death," Francesca Mills as Meldof, Amy Murray as Fenrik, Nathaniel Curtis in the role of Brían, Zach Wyatt as Syndril and Dylan Moran as Uthrok One-Nut.

Additionally, The Witcher writer Declan de Barra will serve as showrunner as well as executive producer alongside Lauren S. Hissrich, Tomek Baginski and others. The Witcher author Andrzej Sapkowski will also be serving as consultant on the series. It is worth noting that, while Sapkowski's novels mention the Conjunction of the Spheres and vaguely describe its aftermath, this period in the Continent's history has never been fully explored.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is a six-part series set 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher, in the aftermath of a cataclysmic inter-dimensional event known as the Conjunction of the Spheres, which brought entire worlds together and littered the Continent with monsters, humans and magic. The official synopsis for the show teases an exploration of how the first witcher came to be.

The Witcher: Blood Origin has yet to receive a premiere date. However, fans of the franchise can still look forward to the return of Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Ciri in Season 2 of The Witcher, when it premieres on Netflix Dec. 17.
