Up until now, much of the marketing surrounding Blood Origin has focused heavily on Éile, Scian and Fjall, three elves from three different clans, each one a master of a different weapon. Each one received a brief character description early on, letting audiences know what to expect from these brand-new characters. Scian is the last of her tribe of sword-elves and is unmatched when it comes to the blade. Éile is from a clan that favors knives in combat, while Fjall favors the axe.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is set 1,200 years before the events of Netflix's main Witcher series. It centers on the ancient Continent, before humans, monsters and magic arrive through the Conjunction of the Spheres and explores the events leading up to the creation of the world's first witcher. Details are scarce concerning the plot and characters, though it is known the series will see the return of Joey Batey's Jaskier.

What to Expect From The Witcher: Blood Origin?

The Netflix series recently dropped a trailer for Comic Con Experience 2022 in Brazil, showcasing the vastness of the ancient Continent, the machinations of Chief Druid Balor and more. It all seemingly results in a number of fiery battles, brutal armies and horrific monsters. It's a story that will all be told by actor Minnie Driver's mysterious elven character, the Seanchaí.

Originally announced in 2020 as a six-part limited series, following the success of The Witcher. It was reported later on that the title had been cut down substantially and will now be comprised of just four episodes. Showrunner Declan de Barra previously explained the decision, stating, "This felt like a two-part movie. You never want to be watching a movie going, 'I love this movie.' And then you start to look at your watch going, 'Oh, please end soon,' I never wanted there to be any moment where we’re just stringing the audience along to have an episode."

The Witcher: Blood Origin is set to premiere on Dec. 25, only on Netflix.
