Joey Batey's Jaskier aka Dandelion has been a fan favorite character in many facets of The Witcher universe. In the books, games, and now in the Netflix series, Jaskier has continued to capture the audience's imagination. The new limited series The Witcher: Blood Origin is now implementing Dandelion in a crucial role that allows him to have a bigger effect on Netflix's The Witcher universe. Amplifying his natural role within the universe is the perfect way to show the audience that the franchise is here to stay.

The Witcher: Blood Origin takes place 1,200 years before the events of The Witcher. It's expanding the lore of the Continent in a time before chaos magic and humans. The Elves are the dominate society, yet, during a time of unrest, seven warriors will change everything. Jaskier is brought into this story to spread its legend across the current day Continent. As the series begins, Jaskier is once again in deep trouble. As a battle rages around him, time stops and he is greeted by a character called the Seanchaí. Played by Minnie Driver, the Seanchaí is a character who slips between worlds and collects stories. She tells Jaskier that he needs to bring hope back to the Elves and the Continent by bringing back the story of seven legendary warriors. Jaskier's natural role is a storyteller, even in theThe Witcher games, he acts as a narrator and storyteller. Connecting Blood Origin and the main Witcher series through Dandelion is the perfect way to take advantage of his character.

This also covers any exposition that may need to take place in Season 3 of The Witcher. Audiences will already understand more about the Monoliths, the Conjuncture of the Spheres and Witchers in general. It will make sense why Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri also know more because Jaskier can relay to them the story of the warriors. Jaskier can be the connective tissue that pulls the universe together. This tactic can also be used beyond just Blood Origin. The Seanchaí can frequently visit Dandelion to help inspire the world and offer exposition through incredible stories.

Even though Jaskier is often overly confident, he can also be very insecure. Even when Seanchaí approaches him, he still balks at the thought that he is anything more than just a bard. She reminds him that he is a hero to the Elves and that he is far more than just a bard. Jaskier dives into danger right alongside Geralt and frequently goes out of his comfort zone to help out his friends. He is now in possession of incredible knowledge and can use that to help Geralt protect Ciri and make sure that the Witcher profession survives the next cataclysm.

The Witcher: Blood Origin provides so much context and depth to the growing Netflix Witcher universe. Diving into the Conjunction of the Spheres and a new epic Elven adventure helps the universe to feel alive with history. Allowing Jaskier to be the person that connects the past and present gives him a stronger purpose within The Witcher and shows that he can be a true hero and make a difference through his stories.
