The Winchesters showrunner, Robbie Thompson, confirmed that multiple Supernatural characters will feature in The CW's 13-episode prequel series.

In an interview with TV Line, Thompson responded in the affirmative when questioned about whether many other characters from the original series will make guest appearances. "Absolutely. We will see some Supernatural faces," he said. "I'm not at liberty to say who just yet, but in the back part of our first 13 episodes, you will definitely see some familiar faces, which I'm super, super excited about."

The Winchesters, the prequel series to the long-running, fan-favorite Supernatural, debuted on Oct. 11, with its pilot quickly establishing the familiar world filled with monstrous threats and stubborn hunters. Set to explore the early adventures of John Winchester (Drake Rodger) and Mary Campbell (Meg Donnelly), the parents of Sam and Dean Winchester, The CW's new show is executive produced by Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles. The actor reprises his role as Dean, though predominantly as the show's narrator.

Another familiar voice featured in the pilot alongside Ackles; Gil McKinney, who portrayed Henry Winchester in Seasons 8 and 9 of Supernatural, did some voice work for the show. "Yes, that is 100 percent Gil McKinney," Thompson confirmed. "Gil is a wonderful person [and] a terrific actor, and one of the fun things about working in this world was figuring out who we might be able to work with again. He was just a great partner and came in and recorded that [a letter from Henry] for us. He was terrific."

The Winchesters marks The CW's third attempt at a Supernatural spinoff, following plans for Bloodlines and Wayward Sisters. Ackles previously opened up about how the upcoming prequel series would avoid muddying the timeline already established by Supernatural. As Ackles explained, "We found a way to continue that story in a way that might be surprising, but always keeping in our back pocket getting us back to the mythology that is established, which is not an easy task. It's not an easy map to draw, but we're doing our best."

The Boys' actor also confirmed that the prequel will revisit key moments from the Supernatural's wider timeline while staying true to the legacy. "That's kind of the exciting thing, in my opinion, is that the waypoints or the tentpoles that were established on the mothership, as we lovingly call it, those will get touched on," Ackles said. "But we'll get to those waypoints in a way that we probably didn't expect."

All 15 seasons of Supernatural are currently streaming on Netflix. The Winchesters is now streaming on The CW, with new episodes arriving Tuesdays.
