A third season of The Wheel of Time has been officially confirmed by Prime Video.

The announcement came at The Wheel of Time: Origins panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego. Although there had been earlier reports that a third season of Wheel of Time was coming, these were not verified by the show's producers or studio until now.

The first season of The Wheel of Time aired in late 2021 after a long delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The show received an early renewal for Season 2, which has now wrapped filming, but at this time no footage or trailer has been released and the premiere date is not known.

The Wheel of Time is based on the immensely popular book series of the same name by the late Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. It takes place in a world in which many individuals can wield magic, but men who attempt it are doomed to madness and hunted down by the all-female Aes Sedai. The prophesied savior known as the Dragon has been reborn, but he is as likely to break the world as he is to save it.

Season 1 of The Wheel of Time follows a group of young villagers who have been sought out by the Aes Sedai Moiraine and her Wander Lan, who believe that one of them may be the Dragon Reborn. As they journey through their world, each one learns about his or her own powers, including the women's ability to channel and their need to be trained as Aes Sedai.

The show, created by Rafe Judkins and starring Rosamund Pike, Daniel Henney, Josha Stradowski, Marcus Rutherford, Madeleine Madden, Zoe Robins and many more, has been a critical and commercial success both among new fans and longtime readers of the fantasy books. A release window for The Wheel of Time Season 2 has not yet been announced, but recent casting reveals are building hype for the way the story will expand and change with the introduction of new characters, including key players like Aviendha and Elayne, the Daughter-Heir of the fictional nation of Andor.

All eight episodes of Season 1 of The Wheel of Time are available to stream now on Prime Video.
