Wheel of Time star Kate Fleetwood hinted that fans will see Liandrin Guirale's darker side emerge in the Amazon Prime Video series' upcoming second season.

Fleetwood teased the formidable Aes Sedai's Season 2 character arc during a virtual panel at JordanCon 2022. "I've really enjoyed the playfulness of Liandrin," she said. "But there is, there are -- there's a deeper and a darker side to Liandrin, but also her own personal backstory I've really been able to immerse myself in the second season which has been a real gift... there's definitely some surprises in store in Season 2."

The English actor also opened up about what she enjoys most about portraying a pre-existing character like Liandrin on the screen. "I think the lovely thing about having been given the great opportunity to bring Liandrin to life is that the writers have created a really sort of layered interpretation of her," Fleetwood said. "I think she's very different from how people might have seen her in the books and certainly, as an actor, you're always looking for as many dimensions to play, and you're certainly looking for the scratch and the friction in the character."

The Wheel of Time Season 2 reportedly wrapped filming in the Czech Republic in March 2022. The epic fantasy series' second unit supposedly completed shooting in Morocco around the same time. If these reports are accurate, fans believe Wheel of Time's second season could arrive in late 2022. This is pure conjecture as Prime Video has not yet announced when Season 2 will premiere.

Actor Daniel Henney, who plays al'Lan Mandragoran, previously suggested that Wheel of Time's forthcoming season will be even gorier than its predecessor. "It's really hard for me to not give too much away, but I will say this: two swords, multiple Fades, blood….lots of blood," Henney said when asked about Season 2.

Fans can also expect to see several additions to the cast in Wheel of Time's second season, amid all the bloodshed. Julian Lewis Jones, last seen as King Atlan in Zack Snyder's Justice League, recently signed on to play Bayle Domon. He'll be joined by fellow series newcomer Ayoola Smart, who is set to appear as fan-favorite character Aviendha when The Wheel of Time Season 2 finally premieres.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 is streaming now on Prime Video. Season 2 does not yet have a release date.
