The Walking Dead's First Season Hits Shelves On March 8

The first season of AMC's critically acclaimed adaptation of The Walking Dead is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on March 8.

The zombie/survivalist-horror drama set ratings records for the cable network, with 5.3 million viewers tuning in for the Halloween premiere. The season finale drew a whopping 6 million (8.1 million after rebroadcasts). The Walking Dead also topped the list of most-pirated television shows. It's been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for best television series drama and a Writers Guild of America Award for best new series.

The two-disc set, from Anchor Bay Entertainment, contains the full six-episode first season, plus extras like a making-of featurette, footage from the Comic-Con International panel, interviews with comic creator and executive producer Robert Kirkman, zombie-make-up tips and more. The Blu-ray is priced at $49.99, and the DVD at $39.98.
